Hey folks,

Having missed Cocoon this year, please would those in the know provide their top 10 tracks from this summer.

Be good to know the big tracks but also those more subtle, yet equally groovy, numbers that get played during the build-up as well!

Thanks,

Phil

good shout, I'm trying to ID a track Sven played at the Closing, near the end, after he played Jaguar, has a (male?) vocal - anyone ?

you might mean 'no one gets left behind' (dj yellow & flowers and sea creatures) maybe?

cheers Stivi. I do know that track, and not sure if that was it tbh. Or maybe it was and I was just tired and emotional ....

the new pantha du prince one maybe - dream yourself awake (the vocals only come in the second part of the track)

alright then, here is a selection of tunes sven played lots and lots this summer - and some of them I expect to appear on his 'sound of 17th season' compilation:

the trippy / melodic ones:
harald björk - sabor latino (mix of life)
love over entropy - sea
pantha du prince - dream yourself awake
ripperton - ordine gigante
ricardo tobar - angora (fairmont remix)

the pumping ones:
redshape - tel aviv
danny daze - swim
levon vincent - a1
margot - er suonome
konstantin sibold - mutter
floorplan - spin

there's obviously much much more, but you wanted a top ten and I've got it down to 11 ;)

Nearly all of the ones stivi mentioned he played when I was there, he also played Trikk - Proto-Rhyt near the very end of his set, the bass rift sounded lethal

Only went to one Cocoon this summer and haven't listened to any sets so didnt realise the Love over entropy tune was getting played by Sven! Soo good

I went to two Cocoon's this summer (opening and Sven 'all night long' in September) and thought the music at the later in particular was some of the finest I've heard Sven play in years.

Nothing beats his 'all night long' sets when he gets more time to dig deep in the crate and take you on a journey. I particularly enjoyed the start of his set where he began playing tracks like Dan Ghenacia & Chris Carrier 'Vaporized' and Tensnake 'Holding Back (My Love)' (Tiger & Woods Remix). Such brilliant warm up tracks, creating the perfect atmosphere for some of the pumping techno that were dropped later on that night, many of which have been mentioned above by Stivi.

I say this every year... but it simply doesn't get better than Cocoon!

Stivi, you might also know the track Sven played at Heart Opening and Cocoon Opening as the opening track? Some kind of french house...

EDIT: Oh, perrylgooner just posted it:
Tensnake 'Holding Back (My Love)' (Tiger & Woods Remix)

So, so great!! Bringing back those incredible memories!! Thank you!

tracklisting is out and stivi was right about most of them :)

for me there is one big sven-anthem this year: the roman flügel remix of Electrica Salsa! When Sven played it on the terrace near the end of the set we were freaking out, jumping up and down and singing along to the lyrics. we were pretty much the only ones who knew the track as it was early in the season, getting rather clueless wtf-faces from the other people :D classic cocoon-moment

true I had completely forgotten about electrica salsa (how could I when it's even featured in the sven interview we did). huge anthem all summer.

Here, here!!!

I'm still not over my first Cocoon experience - and that was in 2003!!!

Really fantastic work Stivi, thanks for this. My standouts of the bunch although both are really really long, is Konstantin Sibold - Mutter and Ripperton - ordine gigante. While i definitely enjoyed the club room set that i heard at my 1 cocoon visit this year, I think a good amount of the track selection from 2015 (16th season was more geared towards what i like) but another fine season indeed. Just missing Sven at ADE due to having to fly home on Sunday (big time bummer) so hope to see him out in New York eventually!

spent last night going through these tracks, many thanks to all (esp Stivi & mary jane) for taking me right back to the dancefloor
