Clubbing in Dubai

I have a few days in Dubai to plan for .... Has anyone been out clubbing there? If so, what are the best places for HOUSE ? Is there any silly dress codes to consider ? any info very much appreciated. cheers

I have a few friends there and they all tell me that it is fairly safe for most people to get in the country. They do not like Americans though and they always make people on flight from the Americas do a little test to see where they are from. The test goes like this:

What is todays date?

If you write 11/04/06 then you can come through. If you write 04/11/06 then you are deemed American and disallowed. Those with Canadian passports are seubject to a special clause, something about it's not their fault and something about borders.

So there you have it.

And if you beleive that you beleive anything. Can you tell I'm at work and very very bored??

This was all completely made up, but I tell you something - they do have some rediculously stupid laws over there.

Listen Bitches I was just asking 'cause there are some places that aren't too safe to travel to right now. I went to morocco a few yrs ago and the tour people were saying it wasn't really safe for women to be out at night. I was out in the daytime and men kept coming up to me over and over again, and it was a very uncomfortable feeling. So excuse me for asking for info on somewhere I don't really know about.

ok it goes like this. In the UAE, men are afraid to get in a lift with women in case the woman acuses them of something. The law always takes the side of women.

If a man attacks a women, he goes to jail while they are doing the trial. if found guilty he dies - simple as.

Perfectly safe place

Steve, i'm afraid to say 17-20th June being Sat to Tues you will miss all the big nights. With it being a muslim country Friday is the Holy day so most people are off work Fri Sat so the big nights out are Thurs+Fri night.

On the sat (17th) there will really be nothing on, weird I know, your best bet is a place called zinc which will be playing a mixture of stuff but full of emirates trolly dollies if that floats your boat;) .On 18th (Sun) I play at a night called Sensual Sundays in Carters @ Wafi. It's the best place for house that night on the vocal and funky side. 19th (Mon) again nothing really on, by that time I might have started a new night at a place called Double Decker but I'm still working things out for that. On 20th (Tues) your best bet for house is Sho Chos at Dubai Marine, really nice venue good resident but the best bit is outdoors so it depends how hot the weather is as to whether it will be open. The inside bit is still a nice bar to visit though.

Other than that on those dates I would checkout the Madinat just for a few nice bars and probably the best club here, Trilogy but it will be quiet on the dates you are here.

Silly door policies: it's getting better, some places will now let you in with trainers on but some won't. Jeans are no problem. the biggest prob you might face is the couple policy. Because men outweigh women so heavily they tend to enforce the couples thing but because of the nights you will be going out I don't think you'll encounter it. Hope that hasn't put a downer on your trip.

GG77, Dubai is part of the United Arab Emirates which is East of Saudi on the Persian/Arabian Gulf Facing Iran and Pakistan (I think). It is perfectly safe here for everybody although Isreal is not accessable by phone, internet or post as they do not recognise Isreal. There is a very low crime rate and was apparantly voted 85th out of 250 cities in the world for standard of living.
Not sure if Stephen is still taking the piss with the lift thing, I suspect he is, but that is not how it is at all. Women a very safe, far safer than in the uk in my opinion, unless you are in the wrong clubs but they are pretty obvious to everyone.

SP, you are right they do have some stupid laws but they also have some effin good ones. So hey rough with the smooth, it's their country after all. I'm only a guest here.

I am only quoting what I have been told by a friend who lives there. She has spent 6 years in Adu Dhabi and then then last 3 in Dubai.

Obviously Matthew is living there so he will have a far greater insight to things than I

NY or LA are safer then?
You should travel a bit more and leave the american paranoia aside.

Hey Mathew,
