Club scene in Vegas?

So some people on the Spain vacation I just finished (included 7 nights in Ibiza... woohoo!) suggested I go to Vegas if I want a shorter, cheaper clubbing trip. I'm not a huge fan of really gaudy places, but I've thought about going to Vegas for anyway just for a cheap getaway and because it's odd that as much as I've traveled, I've never been. :P

So what are the clubs like there? For someone who likes house and trance, where should I go? I also want clubs that are just plain fun (hopefully with house/trance too). For an idea what I'm talking about, even though the hardcore tranceheads will condemn it, I really enjoyed DJ Sammy at Es Paradis last week. Yeah, he got too cheesy sometimes, even for me, but the atmosphere was fun... a fun I found somewhat lacking at places like the WLS opening I went to and even at Cream last week (we were a week too early for Tiesto or PVD! wah!). Though I'd still probably go to an Amnesia style club for the music.

Which clubs try to be exclusive so only let certain people in? I avoid them. I find that whole attitude pretentious and annoying. Plus I'm just not very hip. :lol:

Do they have an easily walked strip heavy with smaller clubs and bars for a change of pace from the huge clubs? Think West End, San Antonio in Ibiza, or this couple blocks long strip we found in Barcelona.

On a sidenote, I saw some people love the club scene in Miami. I'd heard much of that scene was very exclusive clubs though. If you're not one of the beautiful, hip people (or female), don't waste your time. You won't get in.
 
Vegas is nothing like Ibiza, it's even more expensive too! Theres no strip of cheap clubs/bars, all the bars are in the hotels. Don't go to Vegas for a clubbing break/holiday, it's not about that at all.

The only real 'club' is ICE which is now run by Godskitchen and is really good. It's the most technically advanced club in the world. They've got Danald Glaude on Fri's and have big A-List DJ's as guests on Sats :)

All the other clubs are in the hotels and aren't so good. They all mainly play shit R+B/Rap/Hip-Hop. The main ones are Ra(luxor hotel), Rain (palms hotel), OPM(kind of near some shops,can't remember exactly where), and Light (Bellagio).

You can buy tickets online, and also VIP passes etc, do some searching...
 
Whats up mate! Well, I wouldn't recommend Vegas as a place to come to for any clubbing! Not only is the scene EXTREMELY Pretentious, but also expensive......and none of the clubs really cater strictly to electronic music.....most clubs mix electronic, r and b, and hip-hop :cry: I live 8 hours away in Northern Nevada, and usually make it to Vegas 5 or 6 times/year! Now don't get me wrong......If you've never been, the city is AMAZING to visit and you should definitely give it a go! However, do it to check out the sheer scale of the city and the people.....NOT to go just for the clubbing....because I think you'll be highly disappointed! One more thing.....if you do ever make it, check out "DRAIS"! It is a small after- hours club that plays really good house/trance music and has a really really amazing atmosphere. Expect to pay $20.00 US to get into the door, and then you'll need to budget for drinks! A lot of really beautiful people in there! The club is in the Barbary Coast Casino, right on the main strip! If you make it to Las Vegas, I hope you enjoy it! Take care! Oh yeah.....and Vegas usually gets some world-famous DJ's pretty regularly....so check around and see whos in town when you're there! It's not all that uncommon to find Deep Dish, Paul Van Dyk, Oakenfold, Christopher Lawrence....etc, headlining the major clubs! These are just examples..... You can always buy tickets and go that route......because some of the clubs are AMAZING!

No worries, I wouldn't go to Vegas solely for the nightclubs, but I'd definitely be looking to find some good ones while I was there.

So I guess for the times when I can't find a good house/trance night somewhere, what do you consider the best other clubs? Like I said above, for me that means clubs where people just seem to be having a great time. Also clubs that look great, clubs with the sexiest chicas, etc. ;) Again, no exclusive clubs with Bubba watching the door and keeping out any males who aren't hip enough...

p.s. Agent, you mentioned an after hours club. What time do most of the clubs you mentioned close? I'd heard that at least some Vegas clubs are open all night...
 
Indeed....many of the clubs in Vegas are open late......usually until 4-8 AM before they start kicking people out! As far as my favorite clubs......and keep in mind that I don't know A LOT about all of the clubs down there......I fancy Studio 54 (MGM Grand), Rain (Palms Casino), Bebe's (Hard Rock Cafe), The Ghost Bar (Top of the Palms....and not a club, but a hip bar with an incredible view of the city)! Ra at the Luxor can be a really fun night depending on which night it is! Stay clear of The Light (Bellagio)......NOT A GOOD TIME, AND ULTRA EXPENSIVE. And then like I said.....my all time favorite, more mellow place is Drais (Barbary Coast). As I said, it is an after-hours club.....and doors don't even open until Midnight! LOL and if you want to know the good strip-clubs (if you're into that) PM me anytime! Other than that, like I said, Vegas is a pricey place....but can be a lot of fun if you choose your nights wisely! The above places mentioned are the places that I like the best.....(and of course not the one I told you to pay caution to)! :D If you need any other help of sort....get in touch with me! MAKE SURE U GO TO VEGAS IF U GET THE CHANCE. I WENT TWICE WHEN 17 AND 18 AND THE PLACE IS JUST AMAZING. DONT KNOW MUCH BOUT THE CLUBBING SCENE BUT WORDS CANT DESCRIBE HOW GOOD LAS VEGAS IS. IT IS ONE BIG SHOW.

WILL B GOING BACK A GOOD FEW TIMES IN THE FUTURE WHEN I CAN AFFORD IT.

STAYED IN LUXOR TWICE. THE HOTELS ARE 2 BE SEEN TO B BELIEVED.

PERFECT summary Mike! Take this guy's advice. I think the coolest all-around hotel there is the Hard Rock. Go to Rehab sundays at the amazing pool there... they have a DJ spinning poolside during the summer. And DON'T GO TO LIGHT.... horrible, horrible, RUDE AWFUL BAD lol. The only perk is celeb sightings... last time I was there, I saw Michael Jordan and Damon Wayans hanging out in VIP. :D
 
You can not compare Vegas with Ibiza, both are worth visiting for the same reasons but the differences are big. One of the best parties in the world is Fetish Halloween (always in different venues). This party is created by the artists who live and work in Vegas and have their annual freak out, which is i.m.o. an example for everybody who want to make a good party. The combination of Halloween and Fetish as dresscode is the answer to why regular fetish parties are so boring.
The city does have all kind of venues disneyland style, with acts very well performed if you like American entertainment (I saw a Thriller act in MGM's Studio 54 disco that was as good as MJ), there is the snobby Rain disco and if you like the Baya Beach Club you can go to the Beach Club and join the self made bikini contest.
Like Ibiza you also can enjoy the rich nature in the surroundings (Valley of Fire) and enjoy the heath (43 degrees in august).
Nudity is forbidden, in the casino's booze is for free.
 
Basically the only places you need to go to are club ICE because they have great music and bring in all the biggest dj's and its still only $20, Drais would be the next place to go since they have the best house music anywhere in town, hands down. Never a dull moment there. And i think it goes till 9 on the weekends. And then hit up Rehab at the hard rock hotel on Sundays. Great pool party with some of the hottest girls youve ever seen. Dont waist your time anywhere else. But this is all just an opinion. We are gonna try to do 3 days in Vegas and then fly to IBiza for 7 more days of crazyness. I beleve are bodies will be dead by day 6.
 
Trust me

Go to Vegas and hit up PURE for regular hours and Drais for Afterhours...I live in LA and many times I have taken the last flight out of LA get there by 11 p.m. gamble till 1 a.m. go to drais till 8 a.m. and fly back home...Drais is Amazing!!!!..I have been going there the past 5 years...Tables are expensive but well worth it...Also if you have never been to Drais get there by 2 a.m. cause after 3 a.m. its impossible to get in unless u r known
