Closing Party questions...

Okay people i'm thinking of going twice this year- I wanna go to We love and Cocoon closing parties at the end of september. But I've never been in Ibiza at that time of year so have a few questions for anyone who has.

1. Would I be better buying tickets online or just waiting till I go- someone told me they limit the ticket sales for the closers- is this true?

2. Are the disco buses still running and is there as much taxis about at the end of September? I was just wondering because it's right at the very end of the season. Most of the clubs will be closed at that time.

3. Is Bora Bora usually still open?

4. What is the weather like? As warm as August? Showery?

5. Are there still a lot of people around? I know the clubs I go to will be busy but I'm talking about people on the beaches etc.

Thanks in advance for your words- my decision on going depends on them!

Hi Neilly

I went to the We Love Sunday clsoing party in 2005 - got the ticket over there and didn't have any bother getting in (I went during the afternoon, then got a passout and went back about 10pm I think).

There are still taxis around at that time of year (although we were staying in PDB, so didn't need one for Space) - however every time I go to Ibiza it can be a bit of a lottery finding an empty taxi at certain times of the evening so you may have to wait a while for one (depending where you're staying). Didn't get the disco bus that late in the year, so can't comment about that.

Bora Bora was still open and was very good that time of year.

Weather was OK - not as hot as August/July but still warm enough for t-shirt in the evening. It did rain a few times (heavy thunderstorms) but you'd be unlucky if you got rain for more than one day consecutively - also it gets dark a lot earlier in September.

It was a lot quieter at the very end of September, but don't let that put you off - means that there is more room on beaches like Salinas.

I've been to Ibiza in June, July, August and September before - personally I would choose either June or September every time.

Hey Budgie cheers for the reply.

People have been telling me for years that I shouldn't be going in August and now I have the chance to go for the closers so I'm seriously thinking about it...

I went last year in August and it rained 2 days in a row continously- turned out to be the most rain all season in just those 2 days! So thats why I was a bit apprehensive!

I'm thinking bout PDB- Did you meet many Brits down there at that time? Is there a main taxi rank in PDB? I never could seem to find one...

I hope to be there for the closings finally, after always going at the end of August!

gives me a little more time to save too.. ha ha!

I too am a little weary of the 'coldness' of September

See you at cocoon and we love closing!8)

... Is there a main taxi rank in PDB?
I never could seem to find one...
that´s a good question - i never saw something like a taxi rank anywhere in pdb ...
only sometimes a few taxis hanging around in front of the hotel opposite of space,
but nothing what looks "official", f.e. like the taxi rank in san antonio ...

so - is there an "official" taxi rank @ pdb ??

2 year ago i went the first and second week of september and the weather was still really hot,we never had 1 day of rain, tho i suppose its just your luck.last year i was there in june and the august for the radio 1 weekend and i must say a wouldnt go back the start of august again, far far too busy in the big clubs, can't move.september time i really enjoyed, not as many people around but the clubs are still busy just not as busy as aug which is a good thing.disco bus was still on then aslo.As someone said june and sept is also my fav time of going.

Hey Neilly - there are plenty of Brits in PDB at the end of September - and other nationalities as well. There is a kind of taxi rank in Playa D'en Bossa (near the Burger King if I remember) although I always just flagged them down as they were coming past. There are a couple of junctions in PDB where you get traffic coming three ways so that's always good for hailing a cab as you have more options.

Otherwise you could always stay somewhere nearer Figueretas - plenty of cheap hotels/apartments, walking distance to Ibiza Town and Playa D'en Bossa and there is a proper taxi rank there, if you're worried about that.

taxi rank in pdb is on one side of the street up near the burger king - just before BK (space end not IB town end) - tha taxis then go up to the end of the road by the big bend (kids playpark bit/club mighorn road) and turn round to come back if you are going IB town way.... so dont worry they are facing the wrong way!
Went closing parties last year for the first time after several May, June, July and August hols on the island and we had a ball!!! Still loads of taxis and no probs getting them. Bora bora still going strong but you had more space.... beach outside bora bora packed... prices seemed not so high everywhere. We went pure pacha closing and paid on the door - got some kind of deal though..... there were 5 of us and we paid our 50 euros and the guy on the door gave us about 80-100 euro back?!?! no free drink ticket though - perhaps that is why we had the cash instead? Went Matinee on the Saturday morning after - got wrist band after pacha for 10 euro off, I think it was about 20 euro on the door. Then the Sat night we went Amnesia closing which was awesome!!!! Got our tickets from bar in Ibiza Town that eve I think they were 45 euro or something... (IB town was a lot quieter in the bars - but at least you could get a seat!) Then spent all sunday at Bora Bora chilling.... Went Mambo for sunset on the sunday night - again easy to get a table - had a meal etc.....
All in all it was a lot easier to just do what you wanted to do without the crowds and waiting around and stuff! Def recommend it! Have fun!:) Oh and the weather was great!

sounds like a deal

Cheers Budgie, Stiv_watt, Richmal for the advice I'm raring to go now after reading the comments and to Utagaura- You have been doing some research into these new hours haven't you? :D

So anyway the reason I asked about the taxi rank was because I always found it difficult to get a hold of a (legal) taxi in that area. The pirate taxis would always ask me for stupid amounts of cash to get to not far away locations like 50 euro from the port to Privilege!

Now I know there is an official rank- I know I will be charged at a reasonable tariff!

How's it going? A group of us are heading over for the first time for the closing parties at the end of September. Just wondering will the tickets for the Meganite and Cream closing parties be alright to obtain on the day/day beforehand?
The Space Closing Party lineup looks a bit weak imo, compared to the previous ones-is it more about the atmosphere in there than anything else?
