clean beaches

On holiday last week i read an article in the Ibiza Sun about a pollution incident at Figueretas beach. There was a picture of the beach cordoned off with police warning tape and the beach was closed for three days. Now i know Ibiza has many blue flag beaches, but how clean and safe are the urban beaches in places like P Den B St Eulalia etc
