Circo Loco Updates

Maybe I've missed the updates / reviews on here, what's the general feeling on circo loco this year?

Garden still not that busy earlier on like last year? Still as rammed as previous years inside? General vibe and crowd?

sorry have missed this thread earlier. we´ve discussed this recently in another thread (the observations one I think) where both I and grego have made some statements about it.

the garden gets busy from just before sunset onwards and then it´s normally great in there until it closes. up until 10-11pm the other two rooms don´t really get busy, but once the garden finishes they then fill up to a ´perfectly busy´status mostly. all those who said they´re not going to cirocloco anymore because it´s too busy should give it a chance, they might be surprised. I don´t know how packed it´ll get now in august and september (traditionally have always been the two busiest months), but may to end of july have been honestly very comfy.

the music is mostly still fantastic - let´s be honest, circoloco has always been at the forefront when it comes to underground dance music. the vibe is alright, but it hasn´t been as crazy as a decade back for a while now already (not telling you any news right now I´m sure).

Agree re music, which is always my number one motivator for any night I go to. Our first Monday is end of This month and second is September, whichever one we choose I'm sure the music will be top notch and we'll find a spot to feel comfy at. Thanks

Was there a couple weeks ago and it was perfect man. Never too rammed but full enough, cracking atmosphere of people pretty much there to just lose their marbles. Just what Circoloco always has been music wise. They never change their spots. They've done away with that tunnel into the main room from Garden as well. It really caused some bottle necks so maybe that wee change has helped too.

This web page is also handy to get a wee looky of some DJ's maybe playing the date yer going...

Was there a few weeks ago and agree with everything said above. Great atmosphere, good crowd and more importantly - excellent music.

For me, they've really been banging out the lineups this year. They're always of a very high standard, but every week this year there have been 4/5/6 "must see" acts on the line up - based on my musical preferences of course.

Can't decide between cocoon or circo loco for 21 August. Circo have Carl Craig. What kind of stuff is he playing out these days? It's at least 15 years since I heard him live.

I´d personally wait until the full line up (and possibly even running order) is out for circo loco for that date. over at amnesia you know you´ll get 3hrs of dixon and then 4hrs of sven (or maybe 3:30h each) on the terrace and 2hrs of adriatique, 2h of popof and 3hrs of ilario alicante.

circoloco have had very good line ups all season long so far and I´m sure it´ll be a good one too for that date, so will be interesting to see who´s on the bill apart from carl craig.

Cheers. Steve Rachmad and D'julz also on the bill at circo loco that night. Neither are up my street. Sadly I'm missing klock by a week. But the cocoon line up looks appealing anyway. Nice to have choice.

Was just intrigued as I've not heard Craig out for a decade and a half and recent online live club sets are scarce. He really is a legend of the past though.

Have you or any poster here caught Dixon this year?

have to say it's been a while since I caught carl craig even though he plays here regularly.

dixon I caught a few weeks ago when he was solomun's +1. very very good. also heard him at timewarp in april where I wasn't super impressed with his set. I'll definitely be going to see him at cocoon, I love how he warms up the terrace step by step by step by step

In danger of repeating what has been said. But does feel like two of the best nights (and a lot of people's favourite two nights) are just too overlapped now and in direct competition. As you say above though all depends on the set times but looks like Circo have some strong acts very late now. I know they have always over lapped but even if Circo finished at 4AM previously you'd still make it for the main Cocoon headliner for the night.

But as always the Cocoon USP is the longgggg set times as opposed to 90 minutes at Circo.

Went to circoloco on the 31st of july. I arrived around 1am and it was perfectly busy. Also very good crowd and music. Kerri chandler was on fire but on the other room there was a girl whose set was awful.

I must be old school. The concept of arriving at Circo at 1AM is alien to me haha. Things really have changed haven't they?

I agree, first piece of advice I give someone going to their first DC is to get in the garden early, 6/7pm, catch a bit of the sun before it gets really busy

Absolutely, I still do it every time even if I am tired by 2am. Thankfully these days you normally get Seth Troxler or / and Martinez Bros on quite late so not really that fussed...

your not alone @mr_why, I don't think I've ever arrived at Circo Loco past 7PM. It baffles me that anyone wouldn't want to get there early and enjoy the daylight/sunset in the garden.

I always get there around 5. i find it hard to relax round a pool or on the beach when I know there is good line up of djs playing the garden and I can have a dance outside. I've always enjoyed being one of the first on the terrace as well watching that room fill up as the sun sets is great. You get a glow come in through the windows as the sun goes down. Then it gets dark out and the fun really starts.

Couldn't agree more. Watching the terrace fill up as the sun sets is a particularly enjoyable experience.
