Chopping down pine trees

I recently bought an apartment with a good sea view in Cala Vadella. I wanted it to have a great view, so i chopped the tops off a couple of pine trees that are in waste land behind my apartment.

The owner of the apartment complex now seems very stressed that i could do such a thing. Even though he admits that the trees are not on his property, by chopping down the trees the apartment next to mine which he is trying to sell will have a better view increasing its value and that he's not a green 'tree hugger'.

Does anyone know what the penalties for such a crime are?

You might find a load of stinking hippies will climb up the tree for a few monthes.

a friend of mine bought some land to build his own house and he had to obtain the permission of the guardia civil to cut down enough trees to make space for the house.

i think the golden rule to living in ibiza is not to try to impose your own national mentality on a different culture. (though i still wish that they'd all hurry up in the supermarkets!)

What is the best supermarket in Ibiza? They aren't all those little Spar shops are they? I could of done with a Sainsburys.

Stephen, I think it is the golden rule to live abroad, I'm sure I'm moving to London and nobody would give me a job with 2 hours for lunch and siesta ;)

i'd say lidl is the most cosmopolitan of all supermarkets and ideal for holidaymaker shopping. most things are in bottles, cartons, tins, or bags and it's dirt cheap - i get all my basics there and head off to syp for my luxuries (the things you have to cook)

I must of been past lidl loads of times and never realised!

its next to the roundabout you go round on the way to Figuretas, next to Macdonalds

...and in our house also known as the place where Mr Scoobie crashed the car

the building won loads of architectural awards, designed as it was, by the team behind space.

mackie has posted loads of pictures

Somehow it wouldn't surprise me to find a dancefloor next to the chilled meats counter then.

Whilst this thread no longer has anything to do with my pine tree problem, the best supermarket is the SYP between the Pacha roundabout and the road to Santa Eularia opposite Fitu (the best hardware shop on the island).

Not all SYPs are the same. Amazingly the brand new SYP next to the Maison de Elephant is not as well stocked as the one opposite Fitu. It beats me why you would build a brand new supermarket and not make it better than all the others! I hope Carrefour get a supermarket ASAP.

I always go to the one off the San Antonio road, basically behind the go kart place or the one on the road out of Port des Torrent.... are the others better in regards to choices????

here's lidl.......
