Chimney on Ibiza town skyline?

Can anyone tell me what does that chimney knock out into the air over Ibiza town and port area?During my summer visits I`ve often noticed an orange/brown haze drifting into the skies above, most noticeable as you climb Dalt Vila.Bit of an eyesore me thinks?
 
that is the ibiza power station which produces the electricity we need on the island.

I remember a great urban legend about that chimney - that aparently that factory made all the ecstacy on the Island, and the fumes coming out of the chimney were the reason the whole place had a fantastic atmosphere - :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Cant remember who told me or where I read it but I thought it was like a little druggie fairy story... :D

With all the sunshine in Ibiza I whould have though that they would have gone into renewables rather than having a power station belching out that smoke.

That is quality!!! Never heard that myth before! LOL
 
I lived in Jersey for a good few years and amidst many of their wierd and wonderful govermental decisions, one thing they got right was buying in power.

Jersey had an underwater cable from France to supply electricity, why oh why doesn't the most beautiful island on gods earth do the same? Jersey had the power station ready in case of emergency only, an identical scenario would work without problem?
