Child friendly taxis

Can anyone tell me if toddlers are allowed to travel in taxis without a car seat? Will the taxi driver allow me to carry my child on my knee? We have rented a car but would like to use taxis a few nights to go out.

i'm not sure what the law is in ibiza, i'd imagine it is illegal to travel with little ones and not use a car seat. but what is law and what actually happens are two different things.

for example, it is illegal in this country but you see toddlers jumping out of taxis all the time in the UK.

i personally wouldn't chance it but if memory serves me correct, i do remember seeing minbus/people carrier/disabled access type taxis in ibiza (a limited number albeit) and clearly these would be 'safer' than the usual car.

you may be able to request one by ringing for a taxi rather than just stopping one in the street.

As in the UK, taxis here are exempt from child seat laws. I don't think that I have even seen a private car with a child seat in it over here, it isn't something that the Spanish seem to bother about.

i didn't realise that was the law in the UK.
