Cheapest Ferry to Ibiza from Mainland Spain

Does anybody know what the cheapest ferry option is? From what I found, in the middle of the summer the cheapest ferry is from Barcelona with Balearia, followed by Transmediterranea from Valencia. The rest were ridiculously priced, if you travel by car. Do you need to be an active Balearic resident to use the 50% off discount? If I leave the booking for the last 10 days, do the prices rise or the spots sell out or I should be fine? I've done a few searches for the next few days and the prices were the same throughout the entire summer. If anybody has any current knowledge, I'd appreciate if you share it. Thank you!

I booked a return Valencia-Ibiza sailing (transmediterranea) for 2 people in August. It was by far the cheapest option and takes 6 hours, leaves in the evening and drops you in Ibiza. We got a private cabin for some much needed sleep first. Look at it like accommodation + transport and suddenly it's reasonably well priced. I believe it was around €340 return.

Airfares were cheaper initially but adding extra baggage was criminally expensive.

Thank you for taking the time to respond, butters. With transmediterranea, the cheaper option from Valencia is actually available only for the summer and is faster than the more expensive one at only 3 hours.

I got in touch with Balearia and they didn't want to disclose, whether they increase the prices as the peak season approaches. They did tell me however, that I can type in 'pending license' in the car registration number section and if you travel with a rental car, it's not an issue, if something happens with the exact model, which you were planning to take, as long as the car is of the same type and similar size.

It costs 286 return for 2 people with a regular sized car, if you book through directferries and 296 on Balearia, as they have some higher commission. The rest of the search engines were even more expensive, possibly due to a bad currency conversion system.

As far as the 50% Balearic resident discount goes, you'd need to get a specific paper for traveling from the local authorities.
