Change of Career?

X-amount - on issues I think that you are right

You're not alone sweetheart.

I have worked in US multinationals though, and though they have their positives (more meritocratic/professional/efficient/better training) the jobs do tend to be very "part of a part of a part of a cog", and quite anonymous, if you see what I mean.

Perhaps if you give us further info about your career, we might be able to help?

I'm not saving the manitees, nor am I organising club nights. I have other
motivations.

With the job you have right ow.. is it a job.. or is it a career?

I think if you've put a lot of time and effort and training into what you're doing now, surely you must have loads of transferable skills.. or are you talking about a complete change of a career.

I have a friend, who did engineering.. and is now training to become a physiotherapist.. so has to start right back at the beginning.

I understand your struggles, I'm not in quite the same situation as you.. but am constantly analysing what steps to take regardign my job situation..

I don't want to define myself by my job, but at the same time, if I'm unhappy in my job.. it affects my happiness in other parts of my life.

X-amount - that's exactly it with the multinational thing and that is why it is hard for those close to understand as they almost crave this kind of thing (grass is always greener n all that ;) ).

Work in Business Development, since the start I have said that I would be happier if the company were Smirnoff, but the job similar, but now im unsure :? . Have spoken about changing my role and have had the combination of encouragement and brick wall, being based up here is considered the sticks by my London counterparts:roll:

nail on the head! The majority of my life is spent doing this/in here/with these people so I think it should be something enjoyable. In answer to your question it could be a job or career! Yes the skills are transferable - I have a friend who is also doing a complete re-train to be a nurse, very proud but I couldn't change that much.

Paddy - it is always something that I have considered as I could probably get a transfer somewhere, somehow. You have inspired me to get on the intranet and see what else is available!
Glad to be of service!
