Cash Points / ATM

Hi all,

I am coming to ibiza in September and can't wait.

I am debating whether to get a travel money card. Do any of you know if there are many cash points in or around Playa D'en Bossa (as that's where we are staying). Hotel club Bahamas to be precise.

Also would I be better getting VISA or MasterCard? Which one is more widely accepted?

Cheers :)

Good luck with getting any money out of the cash machines in PDB they're notorious for always being empty
I used atravelex prepaid MasterCard last year was very good. Even used it in a restaraunt in San Miguel that was the last place I thought I'd be able to use it. There are loads out there now so do some research maybe look on money saving expert forums is a good place to start.

Cheers guys, as long as there are some cash points there ill be happy, was just worried I would get there and have no way of accessing funds which would be an utter nightmare.

I did have a look at both VISA and MasterCard ATM locators and they seemed to be pointing to hotels rather than actual 'hole in the wall' machines.

Travel money card are expensive to use - if you're staying for a week use cash, if over that travelers cheques

Thanks Zaax,

i have had a look and I can get a ClaxtonFX card which costs nothing to start with, nothing to load and nothing to use but ill do a bit more research in case there is something int the small print I have missed.

cheers

I just exchange enough Euros before my trip and have 2-3 credit cards just in case.
I hate the stress of walking around finding a ATM that my debit card will work.

Are the ATM machines in Ibiza all in Spanish?

Thank you, much appreciated.

I have already started a few threads, feel free to do a search on my latest posts. But I think you answered most of my questions.

Should I look on Airbnb.com for accommodation?

You'll be absolutely fine. I use a travel card every time i go and have never had a problem taking money out. Stayed in PDB last year for 10 nights and didn't get denied once by a cash machine. Also, travel cards are not expensive if you get the right one. I use Mytravelcash. No loading fee and no charge for taking cash out.
Again though, you'll be completely fine taking money out of cash machines.
