Cash point - Warning

when i was in san antonio the cash points didnt have any money after 6pm so be warned get your money early or you will find it nearly impossible to get money!!!!
i hav no idea why this is the case, but it happened pretty much eveynite i was there so be warned get euros here or u might be stumped!
 
I found this and there were big queues during the day.

Apparently the British chip and pin system is not compatable with spanish systems or indeed any system other than our own and so means people are finding their card is not working in many machines.

i'd imagine people were getting money for buying club tickets + drinks, which means on average each person withdrawing over £100 at a time. Same thing happens in my village on a friday and saturday night, and that's a barclays machine.
 
Must admit, I never had a problem in san antonio a couple of weeks back, even with my chip and pin card. Although it did make me realise how vulnerable i was if i had either lost my card or it didnt work in the machine. I tend to only use my card when i get close to the end of the holiday and im running low on cash.
 
I also had problems in playa d'en bossa when i needed 2 pay the taxi drivers in the early hours. Ibiza must have a lot of cash point robberies
 
so do these the chip and pin work then?

also whats the deal with the money after 6pm thing? i intend on taking cash out on my way to a club around 1.30am, will i get it?8O
 
I didn't have any trouble using the cash machine after 6pm. I was staying in San An, and regularly used the machine right outside my aprtment beside the space shop at all time of the day including 2am once! So, maybe its just certain machines?!
