Two threads in one day - wow i must be bored

Anyway, after off loading my clapped out vauxhall to an irish pikey  it has come to the time where were gona need a 2nd car, so kindly my partners dad has said we can have his car as he has now got a new one....

I am currently driving Ians car which he pays for monthly - so i am basically the second party to drive it as the whole car and contract he is on, is all him...

So this new car will also go in Ians name (log book), however the insurance on it will go through my insurance as i still have a policy to see through...

Basically need to know what the best way of sorting this is? do i just say i am the owner of the car and still have ian as a named driver? or...?

Insurance will want to know why you're the policy holder and he's the registered keeper. It may cause some issue, but you will have to tell them the truth.

Your partner can be the legal owner, but you on the V5 form. The V5 is only who is the registered keeper.

That might make it easier for you as the insurance co will ask who is the registered keeper.

Thats what i thought.

Will they base their quote on him or me tho - im sure he will be more expensive than me and im gona be the one fotting the bill for it as he already pays a big sum a month for his car that im driving.

Updating the log book so that you own the car will mean that the car has had another owner, which can de-value it, just so you are aware.

Not sure what you mean here ?

Ian will be the registered keeper of the car.....it will just be insured on my policy which isnt up till January i think

It wont make much difference whether you are the reg keeper or Ian is. Honesty is the best practice with Insurance policies. I am the policyholder on the wifes car and she is down as a named driver but I have specified she is the main user. The car is reg to her.

Dwefinately got to be honest with these things esp as if something happens they will use any false information against you and invalidate anything im sure

I will probs do what you have done with your wife.

Right back on track people ;)

Turns out my Insurers couldnt insure me if the car was registered in someone else's name anyway - thats probably the case with every insurer. So just opted for the car to go in my name even though its Ians car. what a load of palava :spank:
