Sorry i know its probably been asked a thousand times before.

Our flight into the island will arrive at 00.20 for the ease of us and the kids we think a taxi will be the better option to San An.

We want to hire a car from the next day until the end of our 10 days. We are staying at the Marina Palace and want to know where is the easiest place to hire from please.
 
I hired our car through Jet2, VW Polo or similar for £150 for 10 days. Pretty sure we had the option of various pick up points i.e airport / PDB / San An. Basic insurance was included, we buy the car hire excess insurance from insurance4carhire.com, think that was £40.
 
There are plenty of small car hire offices on the shore road from San Antonio (Carrer des calo / Cala de Bou) but I'm not sure on their reputations. I've used Class rent a car and Hiper when picking up from the airport and they've been great.
 
Anyone know how much the deposit is for hiring a car with Autosmari?? And do they block it out on your cc or just take the card details?
 
Cheers! Yeah i read that but it doesn't say how much the deposit is (which slightly worries me), plus I've read about some places not actually blocking the card just taking the details in case. Just wondering if anyone has any 1st hand experience with them and could shed any light?
 
I think its about 350? it was something like that last year and they just blocked it on my card. They are a lot lower than the big firms in excess deposit, why not ring them and ask, they are really helpful.

how much deposit ? of course depends on what car size you choose and which insurance you take etc.
when you start the online booking process on their website you will see a page were you can select which car you want. there they write:

Full risk insurance with an excess charge of 300.00€. (chevrolet spark)
...
Full risk insurance with an excess charge of 850.00€. (jeep wrangler)

might be that amount between 300 and 850 they will block on your credit card ?!
but actually their website is very unclear regarding deposit so i personally already would
have enough at this point ...

had a brandnew 4-door seat ibiza this year from some other company
and they blocked 1000.

That interests me.

I presume that`s full cover and is there an excess with that? I`ll be hiring for maybe just my last 4 days but I`d be happy to pay £40 if there was no excess.

Edit: It`s OK. I see on their website it`s the excess that`s covered.
 
Thanks for the replies folks! A friend of mine had an £900 deposit recently which made me think I better check. Booked it through ibiza spotlight so wasn't overly worried tbh, but have had an email back to say it's £300 which is cool. Now to decide on where to venture for the 2 days we have the car and are being half sensible!
