car hire question...

i know this might be a long shot but are there any car hire companies that will hire out a car to someone who doesn't have 2yrs driving experience??

i'm wanting to take my mum to ibiza next year as she has had a hard time recently and she loves ibiza ( plus she's been dropping hints at every opportunity ) but i only passed my test in august.... :(

any help would be very much appreciated.... :D

well if there is a company that does do.if it was me i would get buses and taxis.untill you learn a bit more about driving here first.not that i am saying your a bad driver but you need a bit more experience.driving can be fun in ibiza, but also can be nerve racking at times.when its busy.as spainish drivers have there own law on the road.
you don;t mention your age if your over 21 thats fine.

it would more than likely be out of season or else in early may or october so there shouldn't be much traffic... i also went round the entire island on a quad last month ( granted that isn't a car but i'm very confortable on the roads already ) and buses/taxis aren't gonna be an option as my mum will be either using a walking frame or a wheelchair.... i'm 33 this month so the age thing isn't a problem..

maybe i should have posted all this first...:oops:

Ric, just ran a dummy quote through Avis website and here are the conditions about driving licences (to give you one option anyway) :

"Drivers must have a full clean driver's licence for a minimum of 12 Months at the time of rental."

Just watch their excess levels - about 600Euros odd. Take out a standalone excess protection insurance separately to reimburse you for this if anything happens whilst the car is in your custody !

(Example : http://www.worldwideinsure.com/car-hire-excess-insurance.php )

Oh - just pieced together the mystery of why it seemed to take 2 hours to get from BM to Space ... it actually took about 15 minutes but after parking up opposite Tantra we hit the vodka and red bulls big time in the parked-up car, Spanish-stylee ... during which time you tried to get me to explain how car hire excesses worked. Suffice to say ...... immediately after I gave up we "presented" with our tickets at the entrance  ! Knew it would all come back to me some day :!:
