I am hiring a car from 25-01 October . I wont be using all that much and whilst I have got a great deal with Moto Luis - I am a bit concerned that they are going to charge for a full tank of petrol? Is this going to happen?

Also, i will be arriving at 1am - I assume people will be around to give me the keys.

As always help appreciated.

I believe Moto Luis use the 'pay deposit on full tank, return with full tank, deposit refunded system'
this is the best way in my opinion, check your agreement though.

I always use Moto Luis. They give you the car with a full tank and you leave it back full.....no deposit required.

Outside of office hours its a 10euro charge to have someone meet you at the airport to give you the keys, sign the relevant documents and swipe your credit card.

Like you say, they will have swiped your card and will charge for any fuel not replaced.
General conditions on the booking page of this very website.

Just got back from Ibiza. We hired a car from Centauro. The car was supplied with a full tank of fuel at a cost of 82 Euro and when I picked up the car I enquired about none use of the fuel and was advised that they would give me some rebate if I returned the car with some fuel left in it. To be honest I feared the worst and thought that on return I would not get any money back.
We didn't use the car that much over the six days (we probably did about 50 to 75 miles). However on return of the car I was pleasantly suprised that they refunded the full 82 Euros. So a big pat on the back for Centauro.

I returned the car back to Centauro with half a tank and never got any refund.

I was categorically told it is return empty/no refund possible. :(

Still a good hire company though imo.

Centauro gave me a car running on fumes. :?

I had to go directly to the nearby petrol station to fill up! (actually, not so nearby considering you had to make a complete circle through 2 roundabouts to get to the place!)

just booking rentalcar ... is full/full always better ??

f.e. some compact-class-car is 240 euros (full/empty) and 345 (full/full) ...
so difference is 105 euros .

ok. depends on size of tank and whatever ... but would i have to pay more than 105 euros for a full tank plus "service charge" for a compact car ?

Full to full is always better, you might end up having to pay for the fuel in advance but they refund the full amount as long as its returned with a full tank...this is the option that I only and always use.

Some rental companies wont even charge you for the fuel up front and refund later, some will only charge you if you don't return the car with a full tank which is even better as often there are differences in exchange rates which means if you paid for a full tank and then it was refunded the following week you may end up getting less money back (of course that only applies if your not paying in euros)
