It seems the cheapest way to hire a car is through one of the millions of online car rental sites. However if you use these sites you don't find out until you've paid where you have to pick the car up from.

Getting a minibus over to the hiper car collection depot, where it then takes 25-30 mins to fill out the paperwork for each persons car hire, is really p:ss:ng me off.

Is there a way of ensuring you can pick up your car at one of the desks in the airport and also getting a cheap deal?

www.holidayautos.com
(They use Europcar - Betacar)

I swear by them. All the CDW is paid in the price so although it will be a bit more ££, if you prang it, you pay NOTHING. and their cars are good. I got the choice of a polo, clio or Seat Ibiza last year - went for the Ibiza which had a thumping cd stereo and air con :)

I used Hiper last year and would NEVER repeat the experience again....

I used Hispacar this year and they assigned me to Centauro, which had great service and cost me just 20 euros a day with insurance :D

Hispacar tells you the renting agency right on the reservation confirmation, and you have a cancellation grace period. It might just be worth reserving and then, if you get Hiper, cancel!

It seems that both www.amigoautos.com and www.doyouspain.com are working this year with Hiper Car, which doesn't sound too good to me as i'm used to renting from these websites every year.

Last few times i dealt with Hiper Car i had to waste at least 1 hour in their offices near the airport when waiting in queue and filling in thier documents (needless to mention the long 10-15 minutes walk to there from the airport itself).

So i'm joining the question in this thread - Are there any other websites where i can rent a car without losing my underwear (aka: cheap), aside form the methods that are already menthioned above in this thread?

i used hiper last week cost £100

no probs at all

minibus straight away to the counter

woman had the forms i signed twice

and drove off in a 5 door punto brand new with air con and nice cd stereo after paying for a 3 door lower spec (with aircon)

at airportjust dropped off in the carpark and put keys through the window of their designated van and went to check in

other than the 6 hour delay for my flight home it was a very smooth deal

probably bit busier in peak season i imagine but id def use them again.

if you book via doyouspain there is no deposit and you can cancel any time

may be worth it for a back up
