hi guys

any excess insurance you'd recommend for car rental? i've booked a rental car for 12 days from autos luis. 7th july

thanks

+1 for the one minimarc listed above. Claimed 3 times last couple of years (tyres & keys) twice re: Ibiza hires and once for Menorca (tyre). No problems getting paid, claims dealt with by Axa.

I don't know about MiniMarc's suggestion,with mine online it's instant....just print off the paperwork.

thanks guys.

is it too late get it ? i'm picking up the rental car on the sunday 7th july?

No it's not too late. With worldwideinsure.com, you can even take it out on the same day provided it's before the rental contract is entered into (pickup time). I've actually taken that particular insurance out just before setting off to pick up a rental car on the island. Handy for those last minute decisions. They can cross-reference the time the car is collected from the rental documentation against the time the insurance cover commences.

You get e-mailed the documentation immediately and it's separate from the agreement with the car rental company so basically no need to print it off just have an electronic copy in case you need to make a claim after handing the car back.

just paid for insurance with world wide insure

so basically i dont have to pay any 'extra' insurance when i got the car? what if they try to force me or whatever? i understand they will put a block of reserve of 450 euros on my credit card.

thanks again

thye cant force you but they will try and you sell you their 'full insurance' which is aabout 3x more expensive. You will have to leave a deposit yes if you are using 3rd party excess insurance

yes moto luis sorry

i'm a little confused now. sorry. i dont need the full insurance from moto luis?

let say if i damage a tyre and it need to be replace, will moto luis take all of the 450 euros deposit or juts the actual cost of the new tyre?

The car will come with fully comprehensive insurance which is included in the hire fee.
However, this doesn't cover key loss or damage, lock breakage, damage to the underside, clutch, tyres, wheel rims, mirrors or theft from the car.
If any of these things happen, like needing a new tyre, only that cost will be taken from your deposit. You would then have to claim from the insurance you have just bought.

Now you have excess insurance decline theres also make sure you check the car all over including any stains or damaged seats etc , they will take a deposit from your credit card or and impression of it , and only if there is any damage will they take the excess , if they do make sure you get a report of the damage on paper and photos if possible , and reciept as you will need as much evidence as you can get so the excess insurance does not try to riddle out of paying you back what you have losted , the same goes for normal travel insurance evidence evidence
