Slow day at the office (well... in reality, just procrastinating on the million little things I need to do ) so I finally uploaded photos from our New Years trip to Cancun.

Take a look if you've got extra time on your hands:
Part 1 (my pics)
Part 2 (Irina's pics)

Haven't added most of the captions yet but I'll get around to it soon.

Pups - Irina thinks my obsession with cemetaries is a bit... well... morbid  If you like graveyards, I have some great film from Paris graveyards last year which I WILL get around to editing at some point! and some photos here

Silvia - yes, grapes at midnight, of course! First time I did that was in Barca in New Years '99.

I have lots of photos of graveyards, :? I so wanted to visit New Orleans about 5 years back and visit the "Cities of the Dead" but we still havent got there yet!!!....one day

Phil reckons its latent gothic traits.....

Were you a goth too? :D I've still got bits of it in me (like going to see Placebo tonight!). Often feel uncomfortable when not wearing something dark  I call it "recovering punk"

To Phil's disgust yes, sort of, but a bit more eclectic and a bit more grungy ....

I was into Jesus and Mary Chain, Sisters of Mercy, Virgin Prunes, Southern Death Cult, Lords of the New Church, Fields of the Nephilim, Balaam and the Angel, Bauhaus, All about Eve, The Birthday Party, Danielle Dax, Danse Society, Killing Joke, Gene loves Jezebel, Foetus.... and my favourite Violent Femmes8)

Phil still p***es himself laughing when he goes through the "depressing" section of my album collection.

.....but it also consists of full on Seattle grunge, **** loads of reggae and ragga than Acid House up to today so alls well that ends well and I am a well adjusted person now, a happy individual so it didnt damage me too much,...

Oh my god. That's like a who's who of what I used to listen to . The Mission, Xymox and Joy Division are strangely missing from the list (and the "big 4" - Cure, Depeche, Smiths, New Order)

I'm surprised I made it out of that period without therapy

Did you ever pick up on the industrial music? Back home it always seemed to go hand in hand with the more gothic fare. Groups like Skinny Puppy, Ministry, and their EBM cousins Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, KMFDM...

I have the albums of The Mission, Joy Divison et al but I never really classed that as "Proper Goth"

Loved Nitzer Ebb, Skinny Puppy, Sex Gang Children, Alien Sex Fiend etc

I was into Depeche Mode when they were classed as New Romantic with the first Speak and Spell Album - went off them for a bit then got back into them when they were proper industrial. Only liked the Cure early stuff - sort of went off them after Pornography - still maintain A Forest is is one of the best tunes ever from that era...

Hate the Smiths - with a passion!! and New Order is possibly the only gig I have gone to where I fell asleep at -

I love New Order's albums but they are possibly one of the most boring live acts ever

Too bad you don't live out here or else I could have dragged you to the Sisters of Mercy and Nitzer Ebb concerts last year! Plus we've got Nine Inch Nails coming up this summer :D

The Cure's Pornography is a classic but I've always loved the highly-underrated Faith album. If you didn't want to toss yourself into the abyss by the end of that album, you had no soul!

great photos!!

Is this to help me make a decision about my friend's wedding?

No, but your story reminded me I'd yet to post them :spank:

However, if it does inspire you to go to the wedding, then your friend should thank me. Perhaps their firstborn could be named John? ;)

Thank god for dance music eh - to brighten our dismal souls ?????

Goth music is not my thing went to a fest with a friend (read hot chick I was interested in;) ). Was ok time she was into it, everyone was doing the same dance; that baffled me (was in Germany)?? I am tooo happy for sad music:D

that lizzard is class. did you see many of those?

whats the biggest one any of you people have seen in ibiza?

I don't remember seeing more of them, unfortunately.

He was right friendly... especially as there was a couple standing nearby feeding him some banana.

I've only seen geckos in Ibiza. The little ones, like this:
