Can Rich Winery Visit/Tasting

Hi,

I would really like to go wine tasting whilst I'm in San antonio and I have found that the Can rich winery is right next to it. By the looks of things it wouldnt cost much to get a taxi there (dont want to drink and drive!!)

I have tried contacting them via there website but I have had no reply, does anyone know how I can book? I presume that the thomas cook holiday reps will suggest it as an excursion lol.

I have contacted the Sa Cova winery and they replied straight away saying to turn up anytime and the wine tasting is 10 euros each with cheese. But its a little bit to far out as it would possibly cost alot in a taxi?

Thanks

First off, you are making this all seem way too formal trying to schedule things, going through tourism agencies, etc. Trust me, it's not that formal. I was mostly ignored by people working there.. which is fine.. but it's certainly not catered towards tourism.

Yes. Sa Cova is definitely not a taxi ride away from anywhere. Plus, I'm not even sure it is worth the taxi ride. It's really only worth it if you are driving past. The 'base' wines are cheap, and taste appropriate to their price point (nothing unexpected). The grounds are nothing spectacular.

Can rich was interesting for a few photos.. But they seem shocked when people show up. They are theoretically only open to the public Monday afternoon. But avoid siesta hours. We showed up at 1pm and the place was a ghost town, obviously. Came back at 4pm, and again, sort of disorganized. I think any 'tour' is limited to whoever happens to be there, showing you a couple rooms. "See over there, those are our vines... take a peek in this door, here are our vats. That's it." The wine seems better than the other place (and it was fine since we had it at a restaurant) but I have yet to open the bottle. The entire visit took 5 minutes, even with the guy discussing the wines. It took longer to park. But if you want to walk around the area, there are plenty of decent photo ops.

Sounds like id be better off going to a supermarket and buying some wines from can rich lol

LOL Well, at least its worth getting out of town and seeing something different. Having said that, I probably won't do this again next time I go as I would rather just spend the time sitting on the beach :p

they do a really good dessert wine which i have with my christmas pudding every year

I had a bottle of their red a while ago,it was the cheapest one;just tinto with no named grapes.
I thought it was very good....but I'm easily pleased!
