for a tourist visit in the end of this year. I suppose my uncle would have a lot to say in my last decision, but if you had to make a choice , wich would you choose?:D:D:D
debate?

Cambridge is stunning and you can go punting (small boat) down the river...and fall in!

Oxford has traditional areas but the main town is just like any other English town really.

The whole of the centre of oxford is bigger than cambridge in terms of traditional architecture. There are 30 colleges to wander round, plus a much more dedicated tourist type load of stuff to do, from punting down the river cherwell (as in cambridge), taking one of the open top tourist buses, the botanic gardens, the museum of modern art (which often has great shows), the excellent museums (ashmolean and natural history are the biggest and best) to going on the 'oxford story'

In addition Oxford, as a larger city, has more restaurants/bars/theatres etc for the evening, and the shopping is better, although it is mostly fairly generic high street shops.

Cambridge is a lot smaller and you'll get bored quicker I think. Oxford always has it's massive city centre parks to wander round if you get bored.

I am biased of course (love oxford to bits) but as one of the most popular tourist destinations outside of london and bath, it's definitely worth a visit.

Fair enough but I visited both when applying to universities and fell in love with Cambridge whereas outwith the university enclosure, felt Oxford was quite concretey in parts.

I'm sure I didn't visit a lot of its best features!

I preferred the social life at Oxford as an Undergraduate. As long as you buy into the slightly snobbish atittude, and realise that it's just 'their way', I think you'll find it pretty rewarding socailly.

On the flipside, my masters at The 'Bridge let me focus much more on research and education, and I had much more confidence that I was studying in a surrounding of genuine world class lecturers.

A feeling I haven't had since I left Harvard.

it's true that oxford is quite concretey in parts - I just prefer it cos I live here  and I know I'd get bored of cambridge if I lived there (2 clubs 8O ) (although I am getting bored of oxford now - thank god london's just an hour and a half away  )

Hi, thanks :D !!!! obviously is going to be dificult to decide, perhaps my uncle would for me, the easiest way to reach him. London is closer to Oxford than to Cambridge? Cause Zarbtron said just 1 hour and 1/2 :D

Oxford by bus (every 10 mins from central london) is about 90 to 100 minutes.

By train it's quicker but more expensive

good that they run so often:D :D mmm just another question, do they run at nigth or after midnigth? thanksss
