Cala Moli, Sant Josep (San Jose)

Hi everyone,

This is my sixth time in Ibiza (seventh if Include when I was about 7) and the first time I have stayed outside of a main resort in a Villa. The Villa is in Cala Moli, Sant Josep (San Jose). The Villa itself looks amazing but I was after any info people had on the surrounding area or Cala Moli/San Josep itself. The Villa web page describes it as follows

"Cala Moli, in the municipality of San Jose, is a quiet residential area, situated in pine hills above the sea on the southwest coast of Ibiza. The villa is a 5 minute drive from San Jose, a 15 minute drive from the international airport/Ibiza town and 12 minutes from San Antonio. The local beach at Cala Moli is a 10 minute walk away. Other beaches (Cala Vadella and Cala d'Hort) a 5 minute drive away."

I was wondering if anyone new of nice local restaurants/bars around here. Any hidden little beaches and how long it would take to get into San Antonio and Ibize Town. Does the bus go anywhere near here?

Any info greatly appreciated.

Ok, im jealous, this area is lush.

Apart from cala moli beach itself you are also close to cala vadella, cala conte, all the lovely ones on the south west coast which is one of my favourite parts.

Do you have views of es vedra? as your close to their too.

You will need to have a car here ideally but from san jose you can get bus's to both San An and Ibiza town.

San Jose is pretty and has a few restaurants, banks, shops and a little church.

cala d hort

one of my favourite restaurant is el boldada in cala d hort...fish restauarant overlooks es vedra...magical xxxxxx

i'll field this one......

cala moli is a quiet area between cala tarida and cala vadella. a small winding road with lots of steep inclines connects the two and runs by cal moli. there is a limited bus service from both calas to ibiza town via san jose in peak season but neither service passes through cala moli.
you will need a car as the radio taxi service will probably have no idea where your villa is (they can see my house from their window but still can't find it!)
to eat out you'll need to go at least to one of the above calas or san jose village. on the way to the village you'll find the esparta restaurant - it's good. on the crossroads can verge is a great bar and pizzeria with a lively multinational/local atmosphere. try a bottle of 'mezquita' beer here. in the village centre there are several bars and restaurants.
destino does fusion tapas, es galliner is traditional food with a modern twist, and the soon to open el sol de sienna is showing good promise.
the bar bernat is a traditional ibby bar with a nice garden and hearty snacks, can llorenc is like someone's front room, and raco verd is a bit of a dump that nobody goes to.
cala moli itself has a pebbly beach surrounded by quite high rocks - great for jumping off and is very quiet (no loud music from bars) it's favoured by snorkellers becasue of its clear water and has a good restaurant too.
how's that?

Thanks for the informative reponse. Sounds great! All apart from not being able to be found by the taxi! We were banking on them to get us to the clubs in the evenings etc as I just know that thoose that do drive will not have a night off to be taxi man. Maybe I can put up a temp sign from the main road
