21.12.2012 is approaching and the solstice sun is lining up with the centre of our Milky Way galaxy; an event that takes place once every 26,000 years. The ancient Maya were keen skywatchers who calculated this alignment with extreme accuracy and key archeological sites pinpoint the 21.12.2012 date to mark the end of their long count calendar system.

It's perhaps no surprise that we are now seeing an acceleration in current affairs. Climate change is dishing out extreme weather patterns resulting in melting ice caps, rising sea levels, tsunamis, earthquakes, solar flares and even magnetic polar shifts. Closer to home, we're witnessing financial chaos including the collapse of Lehman Brothers, EU bailouts in Spain and Greece, abuse scandals in the church and the outing of truths in practically every industry, including the phone hacking furore at News International, police conduct enquiries and more recently, child abuse cover ups at the BBC. We're also seeing the globalisation of information via anonymous networks such as Wikileaks and a new kind of anarchic spirit emerging as thousands are mobilised via social networks such as Twitter. Social revolutions are taking place across the globe from Egypt to Libya, Syria and Algeria not to mention the first black president in the White House and recent riots in our very own city…and this is without mentioning the spiralling we're all doing as individuals. :-$

The more sensitive among us may be noticing the veil of non-ordinary reality lifting, a slight quickening in the perception of time and an increase in subtle synchronicities. Our current system is beginning to crumble and it is going to take a shift in consciousness to ride the waves of change. The last message sent out from the Hopis said “We are the people we have been waiting for”. It's US and it's NOW…so to compliment the natural order of chaos, here's a apocalyptic soundscape for your magickal child! ;)

“The planets are lining up, we're bringing brighter days, they're all in line, waiting for you. Can't you see? You're just another part of me.”
Michael Jackson - Another part of me

And a bit about the selections…

This is a deliberate departure from the experimental weirdness normally associated with Bunker Sessions towards a more dancefloor oriented ‘classics' mix (by my own definition).

I got a bit over excited with the sampler this time around, stealing spoken word sequences from various news broadcasts and author interviews (including John Major Jenkins at the start). Also note my tribute to New York's musical lineage, taking a trip back in time to Mancuso's Loft and Levan's Paradise Garage (38:40).

The latter part of the session is a nod to the NYC Downlow; a life-size ruin of a downtown tenement and travelling homo-disco with a residency at Glastonbury and Lovebox. Here, an inspiring gaggle of gender bending, vogueing terrorists werk and serve an unlikely combination of acid trax and vintage disco. This fusion really hit the spot and my take on the sound can be heard at 1:23:14 - five tracks overlayed, whipping up a 303 storm to rival hurricane Sandy - feel the acid love guuurl! ;)

Finally, the session also contains one of my very own creations; a mashup of Prince and INXS (29:07). Like it? Shoot me an email and I'll supply you with a WAV version: robder@mac.com. ENJOY! xxx

This mix is dedicated to those who love to get lost in dance.
