:?: :?: What's british bacon? :? Think slices of pork with loads of fat?

Yes Jason, think Canadian bacon, with more fat!

Why not try getting packs of dry cured ham.....

Jambon sec, Jambon italiano etc.

Far cheaper than the UK, much healthier and far far tastier.

All ways a prob when on hols to get english food I'll find peter the butcher then . Ham and cheap spanish bacon is no match for a bit of british bacon. and after a good night out no decent greesy burger. I went for a burger in west end and they made fresh burgers while we waited from mince. It just proves how unhelthy us brits are..

Well spanis ham ( jamón serrano) hasn't got nothing to do with bacon, not the same thing. So nothing to compare.
I like english bacon, but I just eat it very now and then, you know diet!!!! :D :D

Well obviously. I was just pointing out an alternative which is both healthier and tastier.

Although I much prefer jamon I'm not sure it would do much with a fry up

If you grill the bacon rather than fry then I don't think it would be any less healthy.

This is one of my favourite meals in the world. I am very lucky that I live very close to a Spanish deli and a French deli.

I love coming back with lots of meat, cheese and wine :P

When I go abroad one at the things I like the most is to take home the typical food, my mother is english ( not that I have a very good english) and I allways bring her english sausages, bacon, she is so happy and the rest of my family too, me included!!! The english bacon is very, very nice.

British Bacon

 Never realised my simple question would provoke such a stir!! Thanks for all those replies which I will pass on to my Spanish friend. Yes thats correct my Spanish friend is after good old British bacon to buy. Peters the Butchers sounds an obvious choice and I will check it out myself when I come back in acouple of weeks.
Thanks again
