Bristol

Bath is only about 20-30 drive from Bristol so not too far.

Unfortunatly soooooo many cheesy places in Bristol for nights out, but there are some decent smaller nights and venue's.

Lots of good places to eat and drink depends what your after!

Just fancied a weekend away with the bf so want a nice hotel, somewhere near the shops and transport to airport. Some good food a some drinks, nothing hectic. Any recommendations? Any help will be appreciated

Hotels that are near shops and bars are Novetel, The City Inn, The Brigstow, The Marriot, The Royal Marriot, Jury's, and the Thistle. There are probably many more but i think that these are the main ones.

The main shopping area Broadmead is within walking distance of all these hotels. There are 3 main bar and eating areas- Corn Street, Whiteladies Road and The Waterfront.

The Waterfront is nice for a few drinks especially if the weathers nice and the bars are quite nice, but reckon that the food is fairly simple down there more bar meals etc.

Whiteladies is very popular with the students that stay in the city, although don't know much about the bars and restaurants. Although there is a nice mexican called tequilla max, but if your down at the weekend, it turns into a tequilla bar!

Corn street is where some of the retaurants are, Old India that was mentioned earlier is down here (i think :? ) Theres also a nice Italian called San Carlos, although can get very busy at weeknds, but if it's just the two of you then you should be ok! :)

Hope that this is some use to you, if you want any more info just let me know :D :D

Shame.

I remember getting my arse pinched years ago and thinking 'I wonder who this young lady will be' before turning around to see famous Bristol club face tranny Saphire stood there!

And no, before the wags jump in, I didn't!

Dunno when I was there last, but there was a big dance stage and Born Slippy was a hot new tune!

Remember going (dressed as a soldier for some reason) to Ashton Court for do in the actual building there one NYE too.

Great days...

The best hotel to stay in by a long way is Hotel du vin. The rooms are amazing, each one fdifferent as the hotel was once a sugar mill. Not cheap but really different to the usual Marriot,Hiltons, etc.

In terms of things to see there is plenty in both Bristol and Bath, note depending on time of day batch could be 1 1/2 hours drive so go on the train which is about 10mins!
Bar wise I think the usual places have been mentioned.
I prefer Clifton Village or the between area of Whiteladies Road (the strip) and town.Place like zero degrees are quite nice and spacious with a good crowd.

Clubbing wise, oh dear, unless you want to hang with Rnb/Dubstep crew you will be left wanting.
Whilst I love living here it is not a place for clubbing (IMO) and for that very reason I am just about to set off on the good ship National express to Turnmills for a night at the Gallery.8)

The Ashton court festival is great since it is a free festival but is so full of crusty's with the heavy musk aftershave drinking rough scumpy that I think Buckley's experiences are not isolated ones.

PM me if you want any more info

My word I used to go there years ago when Eat Static were doing the rounds! :D

Eat Static? Weren't they a kind of Mega-dog-ish lot?

don't get me started on Bob Dog and his mates on strings.

Eat Static were an offshoot of the (still going 'strong') Ozric Tentacles. I first saw them play, i think at the George Robey pub (RIP) next door to the Rainbow (RIP) venue. about 1991/2

aaaaaaaah, happy daze
