Bringing baby to San Antonio

Hi there,

Just wondering if anybody could please give me some advice. We have been to Ibiza for clubbing holidays many times before, but this year will be bringing our 4 month old daughter in June for family holiday!

My questions are what are the laws in Ibiza regarding Infants in taxis? We will be getting a taxi from airport to San An Bay. Will we need to bring her car seat with us which is huge or will she be aloud to travel on lap?

Secondly regarding making up formula we will be bringing our own powdered milk with us but struggling to get answer on whether the safest to make feeds using boiled tap water or boiled bottled water as heard so much conflicting advice? Cant remember from previous trips but do the small supermarkets in the bay sell brands like Evian or Volvic?

Any advice from residents or others with experience of taking baby would be great.

Thanks

as i understand it taxis are exempt from the baby car seat rules as it would be totally impractical. all supermarkets sell bottled water though it does tend to be the spanish brands like lanjaron which are most prevalent.

Regarding the water, why pay through the nose for Evian or Volvic ?

I wouldnt normally, certainly me and my husband will be on cheapest possible, but those are the brands i've read are "safe" regarding mineral content for babies. Alot of brands of water apparently contain high levels of calcium and sodium which more likely to cause stomach upsets for babies.

There can be a lot of minerals in some of the bottled waters, Even the expensive ones, The best I have found and see it all over the island,Is "5 Fuentes" agua potable preparada, It is local water that has been reverse osmosis filter`d and is comparable to distilled water in purity & PH, It`s also a lot cheaper that the branded,
Have a good one

youl need to take your child seat especially for a 4 month old, we did last year and theres no charge from the airline its just a pain carrying it about. if you can find table water thats ok as theres no minerals in it but to be honest a week or 2 wont hurt drinking other bottled water

I picture the taxi drivers face as you try to fix the seat in place in a hurry.
If you are hiring a car fair enough, although I'm sure some companies can provide child seats...?

+ please excuse my ignorance but what is this table water that contains no minerals :?

We took our then 3 month old out there last year for 17 days. The bottled water to use as we were advised was Font Vella which you can find in most supermarkets. My wife boiled this as well just to be sure, we dont think she needed to she was being over cautious.

Our GP told us that its fine to use boiled tap water but the taste was not the nicest for the little'un.

Anyway he was absolutley fine on the Font Vella boiled bottled water, thinking back im sure we had nearly a suitcase full of formula on the way out there!

With regards to a car seat, not sure on the taxi law we hired a car but brought our own car seat which was a pain but we felt more secure knowing he had his own seat.

hope this helps.

Thanks to everyone thats replied, some really helpful advice especially with the water. 5 weeks and counting.....! x
