A bride-to-be wanted a hen weekend to remember and booked a villa in Ibiza for herself and eight friends.
Kate Oldfield, 27, a public relations manager for The Big Food group, formerly known as Iceland, was in charge of a £400,000 budget and paid for the holiday using her employer's cheque book.
Flintshire magistrates' court in Mold was told yesterday that Oldfield booked the £2,200 trip on the pretext that it was for journalists, although she was planning the hen weekend to coincide with her marriage in June this year.
She also used company money to pay for wedding gifts for her guests but was found out after trying to spend £2,000 on a video recording of her wedding. A colleague became suspicious and an audit showed she had spent almost £5,000 on the hen weekend and other wedding preparations.
Oldfield, from Chester, admitted four charges of deception and one of attempted deception. She was sentenced to 160 hours of community work and ordered to pay £2,814 in compensation.
