Booking clubs in advance for a solo first timer...worth it?

Hi all

Just wondered what the advice would be in terms of booking things in advance? I'm going to Ibiza for the first time and travelling solo from July 25th for 5 nights...part of me wants to book things in advance but the other part of me thinks that I don't want to get there, only to meet people and realise I've got things booked which they're not a part of.

Is it worth waiting til I'm out there and weighing up my options or is it cheaper and the like to book things in advance (if so, vague as this sounds, any pointers?)

Cheers!

Depends if you know 100% you'll stick to your plan and go to that night? If you meet a group out there and they end up going to a different night, and you want to go along, you'd of wasted your money on a ticket. I'd of said for solo trips, wait for the day itself to decide. (Hell, even in our group trips we don't buy until the day)

Thanks for the replies guys! That was my gut instinct too, especially travelling solo, but my head was turned by someone I know who has been who suggested booking in advance would be cheaper \ better in terms of knowing what I'm doing and when...

But you won't know how your time will plan out at the minute, if you end up making friends and they don't want to go to a night you've got a ticket for but you might fancy their choice you can keep the party going :D

It's not normally that much cheaper. Might save €5 or so. Usually ticket outlets are on par with the internet (so long as it's not Gatecrasher, then everywhere is cheaper)

guys i need similar advise on choosing which venue is playing what genre ??? i want to go as much as electronic and deep house, electornic, london ungergound kinda music played in fabric, cable, corsica, lightbox etc.

sometimes trance is ok but mostly house, hedkandi is good, but no way for david guetta lol

Trance nights on the island:
Cream @ Amnesia, 'Crasher @ Gatecrasher, Sunk @ Vista (Privilege), Driftwood Boat Party, Clandestine pres. Full On Ferry @ Space, Judgement Fridays + Water Party @ Es Paradis

That's the trance nights, but out of them, only Sunk and Cream really play the 140+ banging stuff. Depends on lineups as always.

Venues tend to vary genre for each night, so it's best to go to the party calender, and search for DJs you see regularly \ want to see regularly, to get an idea of what nights they play for.

Only events i'd consider booking for are Guetta at Pacha & Ushuaia, Cream at Amnesia and Avicii at Ushuaia as these are very busy.

the rest i'd wing it and go where the mood takes you, though it is always best to buy tickets from a ticket shop in resort as you can sometimes save a few Euro's and generally the ticket queue at the clubs is a lot faster than the pay on the door queue.

It's almost always cheaper to buy online or from ticket outlets (There are plenty of them around the island). Don't pay on the door for the big nights, the price can be stupid. Cream @ Amnesia is usually €50, it can be €75+ on the door.

I would personally go for paper tickets from sellers on the island over internet tickets. Prices are about the same but I've found that you get in much quicker with a paper ticket, internet ticket queues have been really long last couple of times I've been. Plus you sometimes get a free bus or a drink thrown in (if you're lucky). The only time I would go for internet tickets is if you're buying early bird.
