Blue Marlin or Jockey Club

Hi Guys,

My good lady and I are off to Ibiza at the end of August (God I can't wait :)) and I'm after some advice as we want to spend the day at either the Blue Marlin or the Jockey Club.

Ive heard good reviews about both but wanted some Spotlight opinions. I especially interested in understand what you are looking at to spend the day there including food, drinks beds etc as one review states you can spend up to €300 just on a sun bed.

Now I don't mind spending money and expect them to be pricey but we will be going towards the end of the holiday and this would be out of our price range....

Anyone been that can shed any light????

cheers all......

Both places are on the pricey side but well worth a visit. Think it was about 6 or Euros for a beer at Blue Marlin this year and 10 for a cocktail (when I was there in June). I never spend money on hiring a sunbed - just take a beach mat, put it down near the bar and then sit in the bar when you want a drink/a meal. You could easily do both places in one day as they aren't that far from each other (you'd need a hire car or a taxi to get between them though). I would do jockey club during the afternoon and have a late lunch there, then you can go on to Blue Marlin in the evening. There's a restaurant right on the beach right next to Blue Marlin called Yemanja or something which does decent food too (not too expensive either). And, if your're at Salinas, it's worth giving Sa Trinxa bar a visit too.

come on budgie, losty's got his good lady with him! you can't ask a good lady to sit on a beach mat when all around are super expensive loungers.

(maybe she could make some sandwiches to take with you, save you buying her lunch?)

OK - you could go one better than a beach mat by buying a lilo to put in on so you're slightly elevated from the sand. And still have 296 Euros change :)

LOL - Cheers Guys..........

We could take a couple of nice warm and sandy San Miguel too. But seriously, she would last 5 minutes and give me s**t for the rest of the holiday!!

I like the idea of the Jockey Club during the day and BM by night.

Final question, any idea how easy/difficult it will be to get taxis out of the back to Ibiza Town late on? Its just Ive been victim to this before and ended up stranded outside clubs, beaches on numerous occasions!!

To be honest it can be a bit of a nightmare getting a taxi back from Cala Jondal (where Blue Marlin is). I was there one Sunday night in June and as there were no taxis around they called this Dutch Guy up who works there as a barman (I think it was his night off) and he gave me a lift back in his Audi Convertible - but I had to pay 30 Euros to get back to Figueretas which is a bit on the steep side. At Salinas I've managed to get tout cabs back a few times for fairly reasonable prices. Might be worth taking the number of a taxi firm or pre booking one before you go out.

there aren't any taxi firms in ibiza and unless you know a taxi driver personally it is extremely difficult to pre book anything.

what happens here is that when you ring the taxi numbers listed in the phone book, it's either the taxi rank, when the driver first in the queue answers and comes for you, or the radio taxi hq, when they get on the cb good buddie and find the taxi cruising closest to where you are. you may be lucky and one will be free close by, or you may be not.

there are chauffeur/transfer services on the island where you can pre book, but these tend to be economical only if you're in a gang of 8.
