Better to book flights now or wait?

I'm in the process of booking a week in Ibiza for 7 people. Our apartment's all organised now (booked for mid-August) but I've just noticed that all the flights have already gone up a fair bit from what they were in April!

I want to go ahead and get the flights booked now but other members of our party want to wait and see if we can pick up a cheap last minute flight nearer the time. As we can't be flexible about dates I'm not sure this is a very good idea. What do you all think?

If you CAN be flexible about dates, it is just about ok to wait.
If you CAN't, book them now, or even better, book them a couple of months ago :?

where are you flying from? Think you just missed easy jet doing their tax free flights or something. I'm sure they do special deals throughout the year, so just keep your eye on them.

Just another option ;)

We're flying from London or Southampton. Can still get Easyjet flights for £100 but times are awful and they're bound to go up in price again soon. I've heard that flybe will be doing flights from Southampton but they haven't released any price details yet.

I wouldn't hang around and would book them now if I were you. It depends on when you are going, if it is August then definately get them booked, it's not worth taking the risk IMO.

Why don't you book your flights and tell your mates that they can wait if they want to but you don't want to take the chance.

With regards to Flybe, I dont think they are doing the Ibiza route from Southhampton this year. I e-mailed them in January and they said that they would announce the route in March. I then e-mailed them in March and they didn't come back to me. I travelled with Flybe last year and they had announced their flights in April so they are leaving it really late if they are flying to Ibiza this year. Also a girl a used to go to school with is now a pilot for flybe and I saw her out a few weeks ago and she thought they were still doing the route but wasn't sure. Looks unlikey to me though.

Have you tried Thomson flights, they are bit more expensive than easyjet but flight times are a bit better. They also go from Southhampton but
are much more expensive than going from Gatwick. We got day flights leaving Gatwick at 10am and returning at about 4.30pm for June and September for £114 return each. Here is a link to their website  www.thomsonflights.com

Good luck

If your going from Saturday - Saturday or Sunday - Sunday, you will be able to pick up a charter flights from one of the holiday companies - you can get these through most holiday package websites - and they are pretty cheap (ie £99). The August flights should start making an appearance on these listings soon.

But if your really particular about your time you'd be best to get it sorted through the scheduled airlines, ie easyjet.

:)
