Best time to go

So I'm going to be in Spain for all of June, and I'm trying to determine the best time to go.

Here are the possibilities:

Option #1:

1st week of June for Space, DC10 and Amnesia opening
Pros: Opening parties!
Cons: From the reading I've been doing on here, it seems like June is a little more quiet and not as crazy as later on in the year. Also, Amnesia being open until like 4pm like it was for the closing is not really a possibility given. Also, no Carl Cox or Cocoon. Lastly, I'm afraid of the authorities opening the season with an iron fist to set a prescendent.

So the question is, how good are the opening parties compared to the rest of the season, really?

Option #2:

Some time mid June to catch either the Cox opening or the Cocoon closing

Pros: More Openings!
Cons: Last year mid-June a lot of the clubs got shut down. I'm afraid of that happening again this year

Option #3

First week of July

Pros: I heard it's in July when the season really starts picking up
Cons: No guarantees about line-ups, and I should book my hotel soon.


Further questions:

- Is it a bad idea to leave my hotel booking for a while? Will prices go up a lot? Will it be hard to find a hotel say if I booked in like April or May?

- How far in advance do line-ups get announced generally (looking specifically for Cocoon, Carl Cox Tuesday and Danny T Thursday (if this is actually confirmed or not, I'm not sure))

I'm new to this game, but isn't Carl Cox one of the last parties to start? Wasn't his opening party the 17th of July last year?

I'm hoping to catch him myself this year when i'm out the first week in July, fingers crossed.

Hi mate,

We booked flights in December and hotel 2 weeks ago for Sept 08 and both have gone up in price already!!!

I would go with option 2 and with all the new legislation in place you have to ask yourself if they have a reason to shut clubs down? More chance of them being affected later on due to not respecting the after hours......

June is a good time to go and I understand July is pretty heaving but still worth it! If I had the $$ I would chose option 1, 2 and 3 8)8)8)

Sorry, what does heaving mean? lol
 
Heaving = busy or packed

As for prices, I just booked my hotel last night & prices where still pretty cheap. You'll most likely be fine unless your booking in a travel agents. That being said, i'd book as soon as i had the cash as prices probaly won't go down, only up if anything.
 
I think I'm going to hold off until the Carl Cox opening date gets announced. I will probably check out the opening for his party since it's the latest one. That way all the other parties will have started already. I just hope it's not on June 24th (the Tuesday after Sonár), even though I'm guessing it probably will be. I think I'll need a week of rest between Ibiza and Sonár haha.

My best advice to you is look at the party calender and go when your favorite dj's are playing. That is what i did. For instance i knew i HAD to go Radio 1 weekend so i planned everything around that. THen i looked a the calender to see who was playing where and that is how i decided. If you are there for the entire month of June then you have that time to play with. How long will you stay on the island??? From what i hear the whole month is good and not too busy (if that is what you like). But, do the calender thing. Some of the parties are already decided (like Space opening of course), and more will be added. Damn, if I only had a week to go in June I would certainly go to Space Opening that is for sure!!!!!!!!! :D
