Best Telemarketing call ever

The best telemarketing call I had was from a woman with a very broad Indian accent. She said : "Hello Mr B____, my name is errr...um...Tracy". I asked her which company she worked for to which she replied something or other. I asked "now why should I believe that?". She was silent for a second or two so I said "Well, you lied to me with your first sentence, why should I believe anything else you have to say?". She stuttered a little before hanging up on me. Oh well, my loss I guess.8)

Actually, that does not come as a surprise. In the US there have been quite a few complaints launched by consumers to computer (hardware and software) companies and telephone companies that when they call Customer Support they get someone in Bombay, or even worse, someone from Madras, who they cannot even understand.

So these companies thinking that they can pull a fast one on the public are having their overseas staff answer the phone with names like John McDonald or Tracy Smith when they sound like Ravi Venkatraman or Anjali Gupta. These companies probably think that the consumers are as dumb as door knobs.

My mom uses that phrase! 8O

I can only assume that call center outsourcing in the US is a relatively new phenomenon. In the UK, I think it's been par for the course for a while now...

they're bringing quite a bit of it back to the UK because they find it works better and customers prefer it. Depends on the needs of the company
