Probably gonna rubber We Love this summer and I fancy going to Benirras instead for a quietish day. Im not gonna have a hire car and I want to have a drink, as will friends.

I did search, but i didnt have time to trawl through ALL the topics that mention Benirras, so apologies.

Is it possible to get within walking distance of Benirras by bus? Don't mind a couple of km.

If not, how much do you reckon a taxi would be there from San An during the day, and more importantly, is it likely I will be able to get a taxi to come and pick me up? I seem to recall some chat on the drive down to the beach being a bit hazardous, will Taxi's go down there?

Can you get boats round there from the San An harbour?

And finally, are there any bars down there, or is it a case of bringing your own supplies?

Any help, as always, will be much appreciated. Ta.

there are buses from san an to puerto san miguel and whilst i have seen people hiking over i would get a taxi as july will be very hot. there are some bars at benirras where you can buy food and drink. no idea about the sunset though?

lazy bastard.

no bus to benirras, unsure on a boat trip from san an. even if you got a bus to sant miquel, you'd still have to get a cab to the beach.

c.20€ for the cab there. there are 2 ways to get to benirras, 1 involves a steep descent from the direction of the port of sant miquel, the other is a flat road. taxis will take you.

there are 4 (i think) cafe/restaurant places for whatever you want but take a bit of stuff with you as well if you're planning on being there for a while.

it is also a very VERY steep climb and descent, so in july you'd be prime candidates for heat stroke.

oh aye, forgot, probably a stupid question, but you do get a good sunset there end of July yeah?

this is at the end of june from the middle of the beach, so it will be fine.

to see the sunset you'd just have to keep going to the left hand side of the beach as the year progressed.

Smashing. Doesn't sound too difficult or pricey at all actually.

Great photo Greg. Whens your move?

as stephen says you can get a bus to port de san miguel - theres a taxi rank by the beach there and the road past the cave is only a 5 minute cab ride to benirras (it used to be only a 4x4 or rally drive type road but theyve done it up now)

the far left of the beach is where we go for the little beach bar there (they do bocadillos etc) - there are aslo 3 other restaurants/bars slightly set back from the beach on the middle to right hand side

you always get a sunset in the summer

if you go on a sunday you'll also get the drummers when the tourists start to leave the beach

its my favourite beach, so dont all turn up ;)

aye that was the thinking behind goin on sunday. the past two visits to the island have been far too messy (fun nonetheless) but i've totally missed getting out and about more.

what is san miguel like? have you guys got any recomendations for good value scran there?
