Beady Eye + Zane Lowe + Temples @ Ibiza Rocks (17/07/13)

After last year's birthday extravaganza with Kasabian (that we enjoyed first in Mallorca and one day later in Ibiza), it was interesting to see what Ibiza Rocks would come up with this time to celebrate their 8th anniversary... what about bringing the current band of brit-pop icon Liam Gallagher and one of the most hotly-tipped bands for 2013?! Yes, please!

Back to the rock music after two weeks of rap sounds and what a way to do so. Temples are right now one of the most promising new bands in the UK with the likes of Noel Gallagher, Johnny Marr or Suede praising them.

First of all we have to mention that the band went on stage earlier than usual, due to the fact that there was three names in the bill instead of two, so by then the place wasn't full yet and many people ended up missing them. We've been repeating this for years: get there early or you'll miss some truly amazing bands... okay, rant over!

The neo-psych group from the Midlands has released a 7" and a 10" on Heavenly Recordings (same label as the absolutely brilliant TOY) and their debut album is expected early next year. Having only had the chance to hear a few songs online, including the infectious "Shelter Song" (one of the tunes of the year), we were very curious to hear more from them and they didn't disappoint at all. During fourty minutes the very young band displayed their potential with the hypnotic melodies of "The Golden Throne", "Colours To Life" or the mentioned "Shelter Song" among others.

One of our favourite concerts of the season so far!

Ibiza Rocks' music director Zane Lowe was next. His music taste is very broad and you never know what he's going to play next, which makes his dj sets so entertaining.

Later he also dj'd at the after party at Ibiza Rocks Bar.

And then it was time to welcome a true rock legend. Apart from the bad boy Liam, Beady Eye features the ex-Oasis members Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock and, since some months ago, also the ex-Kasabian Jay Mehler (playing bass instead of guitar).

Last friday at We Are Rockstars we had the chance too see how much people love Oasis when superstar Idris Elba played "Wonderwall" with literally everybody in the hotel singing it (goosebumps moment!) so we knew last night would be special. Beady Eye's set included some of the best songs from their two albums Different Gear, Still Speeding and BE and, as expected, material from their previous band too. Favourite moments included "Four Letter Word" and "Bring The Light" and the two classics they played, "Rock 'n' Roll Star" from 1994 and "Morning Glory" from 1995, with the crowd going wild.

Liam is definitely back to his best and he gave us a night to remember!
