Beaches near San An

Staying in San An in a fortnight, quite fancy going to either Cala Gracio or Cala gracioneta for a beach day but confused wether you can actually rock up with a picnic bag of drinks and food or do you have to use one of the expensive beach bars there?

Notice mambo own one of them and I refuse to pay their ridiculous prices!

Or can anyone recommend anywhere else? Don’t mind a short bus ride 😎

Cala Gracio you can pitch a towel on the sand and take your own food & drink. Or pay for beds/umbrella and take your own food. Beds and umbrellas were €7 each last year,
I don’t know what the deal is with beds covered by the beach bar but they only have the rights to a small amount of the beds anyway.

Thanks that sounds ideal!

There’s also a bus which runs from San Antonio bus station to Cala Salada which is a lovely beach and has a reasonably priced restaurant with excellent fish dishes, plus a cheaper kiosk selling drinks, baguettes, ice cream, crisps, etc.

It’s the 34 bus and runs every 30 mins, just under €2.

If you walk along the rocks (10 mins roughly - wear decent shoes!) Saladita beach is gorgeous and sandy, whereas Salada has more rocks by the waters edge.

Unfortunately, since Mambo took over the Gració Chiringuito, most of the beach there is taken over by their sunbeds & umbrellas, leaving little space for towels & picnics.

I was there a few weeks ago and it was slim pickings for any space for a towel which is a real shame.

FFS I’m so sick of Mambo gentrifying everything I enjoyed. The prices at Gracio were bad enough, i thought there was a rule preventing them from monopolising beach space. More fool me. Sorry for the out of date info @noopets

That's a damn shame, Cala Gracio was always one of my go-to handy beaches
