ever asked yourself WHY Thatcher is leading the popularity contest?
Yes she didn't please everyone, but what PM has?
Personally, I think she did a bloody fine job, and I grew up in the Thatcher years.
Each to their own - we live in a democracy where you can choose to vote out someone who doesn't suit your needs.

Nice to see I'm obviously a local celebrity round these parts. Glad to see someone else who actually considers a few points and makes a judgement rather than going with the crowd. Very good point, I think, if anything that this has justified my paddy and just proves she made a massive, beneficial impact on this country. I won't be drawn into another silly little argument making us all look like mugs because some of you clearly havn't got enough life skills or intelligence to conduct an adult debate on an interesting topic without resorting to personal insults.

good idea on the vote. Thatcher should not win on a number of counts:
i) leading country into two recessions and the biggest unemployment levels since the 1930s
ii) woeful 'boom and bust' policies - loadamoney today, negative equity tomorrow (Oh, and homelessness for many thousands)
iii) abandoning the communities struggling following the closure of heavy industry - no investment or help to those in most dire need
v) the poll tax - wasted countless billions on a policy virtually everybody told her was going to be a disaster
vi) taking away military protection from the Falklands, leaving the way open for Argentinian invasion - a subsequent war that could have been avoided but for Thatcher penny pinching
vii) taking Britain into the ERM at an inflated level, (which led to Black Wednesday under Major - billions lost in a single day, interest rates up to 15% - economic gloom)
I could go on, but you get the point.....!
