I've bought loads of compilations this year.. Space, Miami, Steve Lawler, Subliminals, Slam, Shapeshifters etc.. This one pips the lot.

Ive always liked him live and he's taken his form on to this album.
Its REALLY hard to describe his sound. I guess most people would say its prog but its got a very funky, electro and melodic twist to it.

First CD as usual is slower but still has great melodies and I guess a disco feel to it. Second CD retains the melodies but gets a bit tougher with a few more fat chugging baselines. Even when he slips in Joey Negro's funky housey - Make a move on Me towards the end, it fits in perfectly.

Favourite tracks if I was forced to choose:
The Idiots- Tear Drops
New Ordinaments - Dirty Little Kid
Chris Lake - Changes (still my favourite track of 2005 8) )
Rene Amesz - Cabilla
Rozzo - Blue
Coburn - We Interrupt this Program (Raul Rincon mix)
Joey Negro - Make a Move on Me (dub)
Daisuke Matsusaka - Asian Blue Rose
Killing Joke - Love Like Blood (with Moloko's - Cannot Contain This over the top)

ps: In his thanks he mentions a certain Stu Hirst too ;)

me and Desyn go way back.

:p

Apparently this was mixed in a one-er, which I think i'd prefer on most dj mixes. Defo need to pick this one up.

I've had CD1 in my car stereo for over a month now, it's awesome...

Reckon I might treat myself to CD2 next year! 8)

one of the best comps i have heard in a few years!!!!
love this one! it's bean on high rotation in the car for the last few weeks!!

That Desyn's a funny one.

After hearing about this, I got a few of his other sets, and he loves to slip in, in all fairness, quite simply, out and out funky house tracks. Eg, Make a Move on Me, or as I heard from his Stockholm set, "You Will Miss Me".

He's learning, that's for sure! ;)

he was absolutely fanbleeedingtastic at sander kleinenburg at ministry.

need to get hold of this album as I've got his symphonic one which is brilliant.

anyone want to do an mp3 swap for my richie hawtin DE9 transitions I just purchased?

Not sure why that Joey Negro track (and the couple leading up to it) even though they're quite obvious funky house tunes, still work well. Im all up for a bit of cheese once in a while anyway ;)

Masiello has been doing loads of mixes on radio shows recently. He did a guest mix on Digweeds Kiss show last month, plus a guest mix on Types November Show on Ministry of Sound Radio..

Oh and Masiello is playing at Type's 5th birthday on the 11th of February.. Woooo!!!! :D

I think the term funky house gets attached to too much House music. Does everything need to be genrified (word?)

I can't respond with too much more for now because I have company...

BUT, let me just say, THANK YOU to all who gave props to this album... I bought it today, its just thrilling. We're all getting mad enjoyment out of it. What beautifully sexy and spine tingling grooves by this man!!!! I'd hate to say "high energy" because that term just doesn't fit... but lets just comment that I was feeling drab earlier and now I'm shaking my buns all over the apartment.

Similar to the same enjoyment I experienced when hearing Danny Howell's GU21 album for the first time, or maybe even Sander's Everybody album... or Roger Sanchez's Release Yourself 4... or Zabiela's Utilities.... though none of these describe the type of music really. Its that "epiphany" feeling, where you're just smiling and loving it, like WHOA this is great stuff. Its got a very extraordinary appeal.

It hooked me from the beginning and I haven't been bored for a millisecond. GOD I love giving my hard earned money to fantastic artists!!!!

Write more later,

-xoxo Sara
