back from ibiza a week early - what a distaster!

here's a review on a holiday that promised so much but went tits up making me hav no choice but to leave after a week when we'd booked for a fortnight.

5 of us lads arrived sat 15th at 7.05am, stayed in hotel gran sol right next to kanya and the sunset bars. got our unpacking done and headed straight to the new kanya for some lunch, was well impressed at the new lay out and the food was lush. stayed there for about an hr or 2 then headed back to the hotel for an afternoon nap as we'd been up all nite coz of our early flight. got up around 7ish ready for dinner and got ready for our 1st nite which was the water party at es paradis. headed to the west end around 11 and some rep gave us some free wrist bands for the nite which i was very chuffed about. we got some good deals on drinks at some bar called toffas bar where u get a bottle of peach snaps and 2 drinks of ur choice all for 10 euro each...this got us well in the mood and headed to a few more bars b4 heading to the water party around 3ish, this was a cracking laugh but was marred at the end of the nite when we left the club and saw a very vicious fight on the little road between eden and es paradis..i had neva seen anything like this in ibiza and was shocked to see it. got in about 7am, had breakfast then bed.
Sunday we got up about 2ish and headed straight to the beach in front of bar m for some afternoon sunbathing and eyeing up the talent on the beach, had dinner at the bar at the bottom of the west end next to the chinese restaurants, filled us up and headed back to the hotel about 5 for a swim in the pool and talked about the nite ahead which was judgement sunday which i couldnt wait for. we headed to jules pre party at kanya and bar m which i enjoyed, his house sets got us well warmed up for the nite and he looked in the mood to play a blinder at eden. After hitting the west end for a few cheap offers and catching miss devine in hush, we drunkenly headed for eden around 3am and it was rammed. i had drank so much that i didnt want to drink anymore in there, i just wanted to dance so i headed straight to the front of the dancefloor which was hard work wit the number of people there. once again, for the 2nd nite in a row the nite was marred by the doormen in eden..every1 at the front was trying to shake jules hand while he was playing and these bouncers were just chucking people out...(why not put a rope across to warn people not to go across)...after jules set, scott project came on and these bouncers just didnt care about people gettin on the stage and shaking the dj's hand, so why just jules? anyway we left at closing time feelin very rough and needed sleep.
Monday we rose about 12pm and headed to dc10 still drunk from the nite before, this was one of the few positives to take from the hol, the atmosphere was rly good, got rly drunk on vodka and red bulls and left about 9pm as it was gettin ridiculusly busy and my mate wanted food..eating back at the hotel was embarrassing as i was so drunk and we were getting all the stares in the book from other members of the hotel, after food i was sick and went to bed for an earlyish nite.
Tuesday, this was the day where the hol started to go pear shaped, we got conned by mega music over a carl cox opening ticket, they charged us 35 euro and said not to get there b4 half 2 coz it be rubbish and dead....i find out later in the nite that if we had gone b412am it would hav only hav been 20 euro to get in and drink prices would hav been reasonable...i was fuming so straight away we got a taxi up to space and the queue was massive, finally got in and went to the bar to find out a vodka and red bull was 17 euro, i laughed in astonishment..i was wel pissed off with mega music. anyway we had a dance on a stupidly busy dancefloor, coxy played a blinder but i wanted more to drink so i went up to the bar an hour later to order another vodka and red bull...somehow the price had shot up to 26euro for the same drink i payed 17 euro...i thought, are u for real. dont get me wrong, space is the best club in the world with the best sound system but if u dont do drugs and want to drink, u need about 300 euro to get drunk which is ridiculus. on the topic of drugs, after coxy we went on the terrace and these weird forigners were giving us these pills, we said no thanks we dont take them but they carried on demanding we took them, eventyally they took the hint but went off in a strop, i thought what is goin on so we left about 7am after a very average night.
Wednesday was the turning point of the holiday, i will cut this short as this review is getting very long but after a nice relaxing day at the poolside at kanya we headed out to buy or tickets for erick morillo at pacha. we got fairly drunk again at the west end but far too many english football heads shouting and singing football songs, it was just like watching an english premiership match at the pub it was that bad. we headed to pacha round 4am to catch the end of david guetta's set before morillo began at 4.30. Half way through morillo's set, the thing i least expected ever in ibiza happened, my mate got punched in the mouth on the dancefloor for no reason at all, and guess what, the guy that hit him was an english chav, my mates mouth was a mess and his tooth was bent back, i was just in deep shock so we left pacha as he couldnt stay, how could this ever happen at pacha? we headed to the clinic but the doctors just basically laughed and said the dentist wouldnt open til 10am (by this time i knew his hol was over as i knew he wouldn't get treatment on it), i was just devasated for him and the shock that it happened in one of the worlds most famous clubs.
Thursday, we headed straight to the dentist but as i thought, they couldnt do anything unless he paid a stupid charge and even then, he would be placed on a waiting list. so his hol was over, he couldnt even eat so there wasnt any point in him staying so we went to the travel agents to book him a flight home, he was depressed as hell and i dnt blame him.
so he stayed in that night as he had no choice and me and the other boys headed out to get our tickets for cream, i was well lookin forward to this night but you wont believe what happened, i done my foot in and had to come back to the hotel as i was in agony..i was thinkin, can this hol get any worse, i went to the clinic but again they basically laughed at me saying i would hav to pay 90 euro to see a doctor and even then, all they would do is give me painkillers, so i thought screw this, i may as go home as well. i rung my parents and told them what happened at they said to rest it for a few nites and stay in but i couldnt have done that, i would hav been depressed. so i got my flight ticket and home i was saturday afternoon with my mate knowing i should be still out there, what an ibiza nightmare this was.

overall to somme up the holiday, i would say too many english troublemakers everywhere and money grabbing workers everwhere. i've been 3 previous yrs and this was by far the worst, the atmosphere was just so agressive everwhere comapred to previous yrs...even walking and shoppin in the daytime, everyone just looked so miserable and there was no manners around anywhere.

Bloody hell, that is a turn up for the books. My apologies to you mate.

The only time I saw a fight out in Ibiza was a little bust up at Gatecrasher in Eden. I was ravin' right infront of the DJ booth and these 2 lads in front just started going at it, everyone backed off as they do, a couple of fists were thrown, one of them went down, got back up and then the two lads that were fighting just started ravin' right next to each other. Weird?!

Really sorry to hear about that.

Notes for your next trip:
a) Go in late June/early July or in September. Less busy, just as fun.
b) Stay in Playa den Bossa or Figuretas. A bit more laid back and better mix of nationalities.
(just my opinion but might make for a better experience)

Sorry to hear that. I've been going for that past 10 years and have never seen any trouble, I guess you were just extremely unlucky.

I'd suggest giving it a go next year but go @ the begining of September.
One thing I did notice this year was the amount of large goups of lads on Stag Dos was unbelievable.

I saw that fight aswell mate. An english guy trying to punch the black dreadlocked DJ from ES PARADIS. Idiot got his ass kicked he tried every trick in the book, bottles, red plastic chairs etc but overall the ES PARADIS AND EDEN STAFF I MUST ADD. dealed in a very profetional way and didnt provoke the guy just defended themselfs and basically beat the **** out of him. Broken nose and all:evil:

I have the impression more and more people come to ibiza to get drunk and nothing else. They are slowly turning the island into a 'mallorca' place. They don't come because of the music - they don't even know about the DJ's, clubs, etc

I saw the fight to the left of the dancefloor (facing mr.Morillo) that night at Pacha. First time I have ever seen a fight at the white island in the four years I have gone there.

Sure your friend was as innocent as you present it? IMO It looked more like two drunken English guys (+ a friend) having a fight than one guy getting a beating (I could be wrong though)

This is very true, we spoke to some guys from our way back home and they started slating the music (they were 18 I just said to them why the earth come to Ibiza???? That was the only reason my mate and me were there!! And they were typical chavs, just what you dont need.

You meet dickheads everywhere you go, I will agree that June and September have never let me down but it can happen anywhere, anytime if the drink is flowing (don't really drink much myself). On our second trip my wife (girlfriend in those days) broke her foot, which was pretty crap for her, especially in the heat, but luckily it was the one and only time we stayed in San Antonio so we just sat at Savannah all day for the rest of the trip, even managed to get one night out to Eden even though we just leaned at the edge of the dance floor.

I'd like to say I've never seen a fight in Ibiza, or even 1 or two wouldnt be so bad, but i was at the klippe apartments in 1998 when England were knocked out of that tournament. All i heard that night was sirens, someone started a fire on a balcony a few rooms down from mine...me and my mates just walked down to a deserted beach and stayed there a few hours...i always book hols now after football tournaments.

sorry about your holiday though, i wonder if they keep raising prices to try to keep your average chav out:idea:

The comment made by housefrau was completey correct on what i see ibiza turning into...these english troublemakers probably know nothing about the dj's music etc, they just wanna get drunk, get a shag, get a kebab and hav a punch up..for f... sake they can do that back in britain, why come to ibiza and do it!
i was talking to some rep who was pr-ing outside bar m and she said all its been mostly this year is beer monsters on a mission to get a shag in san antonio..what a sad life if u ask me...these ****ers are spoinling what ibiza is really about.
i have been 3 previous years and never experienced an atmosphere like this year, but like u guys said, maybe its just an unlucky year but it does make me think.

sorry to hear of your bad experiance

but i have ran a busy bar in san antonio bay for 17 years.. and i have seen no trouble at all..obviously i know july and august does get a bit crazy in the west end... but doesnt every city have this problem on a weekend...i have definately seen a big increase in hen parties and stag partys, i think this is due to the great weekend deals that the cheap airlines are offering.... i think you were unlucky in your choice of dentist and medical centre...but i have had nothing but great service from the health centre at the back of san antonio xxx with your e1 11 card or insurance it is free..but if you choose to go to a private clinic you do have to pay then claim back ..:D

sounds like you had a mare, but id say you have been VERY unucky, ive just returned home today after 2 great weeks (didnt want to come home)so was there more or less same time as you and i disagree with your comment on the agressive attitude. I didbnt think it was agressive to be honest, i think ive seen one bloke with a bit of a messed up face in the last 5 years!?! Its not all bad you were unlucky, go back next year and give another go mate!

yeh i accept i was unlucky but these english hooligans should be shot in imo, as u can all understand i am very angry at the way my holiday turned out, all the saving and all the hype about it.
trouble is part of ibiza now, i wouldnt say its safe to go clubbing anywhere these days...i know its peak season but why hav stupidly busy dancefloors where u can hardly stand on ur own 2 feet, limit the amount of ppl entering like they do back here in britain, its dangerous. imo security is very poor over there.
i hope this review doesnt put any ppl off going but bear in mind, always watch ur back, ibiza is not 1 of those places where u can relax now imo.
These are just my opinions, i accept any disagreements as each to their own.

Whilest I had a great time the times Ive been to Ibiza, I must agree it's not the easy-going care-free place I was expecting/hoping for.

If only I was around back in the days of the hippies, that sounds amazing.
