Got to Stansted at 4am, by the time I'd finished in duty free (Tom asking me just how many pink lipglosses and pink bottles of perfume do you actually need ) just time for a quick rose and then boarded, arrived ahead of time, we weren't meant to be checking in til midday but our room was free so we were unpacked and having our first rose/smoothie of the holiday by 10.30am. We were staying at Bali Beach where we've stayed before, lovely big apartments and great view.
After a few roses headed down to Bora Bora to catch a few rays for the rest of the day. Early evening we headed over to San Antonio to watch the sunset at Khumaras, gorgeous sunset with a jug of sangria. Then we had a table booked at Sa Capella, had a couple of bottles of rose, salmon for me and steak for Tom, lovely meal in gorgeous settings.
Headed back and got some sleep as we hadn't slept on the Tuesday night and then woke up early and ready and raring to go for a day in Formentera. Got the fast boat to Formentera and then got a taxi to the Blue Bar and sunbathed there. So lovely and peaceful, for half the day me and Tom were the only people on the beach. Then had a late lunch at the Blue Bar, probably the freshest sole I've ever had. Headed back about 6pm and had a few drinks with Stephen and Anthony who were staying in same apartment block as us but hadn't managed to see them cos of my 2 clean and wholesome days, quote from Stephen 'I don't think I like this civilised you' Had a little chat with Puppylover who kindly gave us her g/list places for Deep Dish and then Rob and Rachel popped in for a few roses while Tom went to see 'the footballer' Had a few down at Bora Bora, then headed to Pacha nice and early. Behrouz was playing first, then Deep Dish came on early, again the Deep Dish boys were on top form At 5.30am Dubfire came on the mic and said 'We have to close in half an hour' but I thought he was having a wind up. At 6 on the dot the Pacha security staff came in the DJ booth and wouldn't let them play even one more, at this time Pacha is still absolutely rammed and Sharam is getting everyone to start a riot In the end Sharam ripped the Pacha sign down from above the DJ booth and smashed it and threw it into the crowd, then Dubfire started throwing Pacha record mats into the crowd, absolutely hilarious People finally began to leave at about 6.30am and I'd be very suprised if Deep Dish are back at Pacha next year after that performance
Absolute bedlam on the streets as you know what it's like at Pacha at the best of times trying to get a taxi so took a leisurely stroll half way back to PDB.
Friday we had a lazy day, few roses and smoothies at Passion and then went and had a pizza at the pizza restaurant at Talamanca beach, waiting for Jamie's arrival. Jamie arrived at about 3am Saturday morning, the plan was to have a civilised relaxing day in preparation for the carnage that was to follow As soon as Jamie bounded into our apartment with one of 'those' looks in his eyes I realised that was not going to happen So we did a rain dance cos we thought hypothetically speaking if it was cloudy/rainy on Saturday then we would HAVE to go to Matinee Sat up drinking and minxing all night and then lo and behold it's a cloudy day so we toddle off to Matinee. What can I say, I absolutely adore Matinee, brilliant music, great crowd etc. Stayed there for a few hours and then me and Jamie decided to be good Keepees and 'allow' Tom to watch the football Had a few drinks in a typical BA (Brits Abroad) bar and generally minxed around while Tom tried to keep us in line Ended the night with a Bora Bora sesh, eventually crawling into bed early hours of Sunday morning, remembering we hadn't been to bed since Weds night
Woke up to a complete scene of devastation on Sunday morning, we described it as we had been hit by Hurricane Maria Our apartment and flooded and there was 2 inches of rain thru-out it all Poor Tom did his best Mrs Mop impression before the cleaner came round while me and Jamie got on the rose Headed to Passion for a liquid lunch and then headed into Space mid-afternoon after swimming thru the Space flooded carpark and spent a couple of hours on the sunset terrace and then headed onto the new terrace. OMG any doubts that I'd had about the new terrace disappeared immediately, it just seems so much bigger and lighter than before, plus you still get the same feeling of dancing outside with the windows, and as for the sound Fat Phil Cooper played first, treating us with things like Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Relax and Soft Cell - Tainted Love Ran into loads of familiar faces - Stu, Scott and Laura, Neil, Fergie and probably others who I've forgot. We used our passouts when Groove Armada came on and just had a quick break down at Bora Bora, then heard the last bit of their set (and yes I was bouncing around to Superstylin' with a bottle of poppers attached to my nose ) Me and Jamie were probably our most OOC ever so poor Tom had his hands full especially when Jamie decided to climb onto a 4 foot high table and become a table dancer David Guetta was next on who was absolutely superb, in all my years of going to Space I've never seen it go off like that before Finally Fatboy played (it's all a bit hazy now ) and we crawled out at about 4am and when I saw crawled it wasn't far from the truth vowing that there was NO WAY we were going to DC10 Fastforward an hour and a few Lucozades and going to DC10 seems like the best idea in the world Carried on right thru and Tracy popped round for a drink (she'd just landed from Israel and I'd not seen her for a year so there was much excitement and bap grabbing ) and headed to DC10 about 3pm, really enjoyed DC10, the music seems much better this year than the last couple imo. Had a nice little chat with Gingerfreak and then proceeded to try and climb into a mousehole (seemed perfectly normal behaviour at the time )
Left DC10 about 8pm cos it was starting to get ridiculously busy and we were beginning to wilt so took a stroll back to PDB (completely forgetting how much rain there had been so we came back covered in mud and Tom fell down a ditch ) Finished the night off with a Bora Bora sesh and then collapsed with intention of getting some sleep and then getting up early for Manumission Carry On.
Woke up Tuesday morning feeling very wrong and with a massive bruise on my hip (how the funk do you bruise a hip ) Tom was trying to get us to go to Space but fortunately me and Jamie are the sensible ones and we convinced him a day on the beach would be a better option plus we hadn't eaten for days and were ready to collapse After a Passion breakfast and a few roses we headed up to Benniras for the day and had lovely day on the beach there with a few sundowners. Booked a table for El Clodenis for that night after hearing excellent reports about the place and had a lovely meal there (tuna for me and the biggest steaks imaginable for Tom and Jamie).
Went to bed very full and happy. Got up and Jamie drove us to Cala D'hort. OMG I was nearly having heart palpitations on the drive (not from Jamie's driving but cos I am a terrible passenger at the best of times and I'm terrified of heights so not a good combination ) Finally got there and needed a stiff drink and then spent the day on the beach there. Then decided we'd eat at the restaurant at Cala D'hort and watch the sunset there which was lovely. Headed back about 9pm and got ready for La Troya. Got free wristbands for La Troya outside Dome and headed to La Troya about 1. La Troya was as much fun as ever but came to an all abrupt end at 6.30 with the inevitable Knights of the Jaguar Absolute mayhem in the carpark as 1000s of clubbers tried to get taxis so me and Tom proceeded to jump on a bus (and I just don't do public transport in Ibiza ) which actually got us back to PDB in no time. Had a few roses back at the apartment and then went out for a few drinks and then had a couple of hours kip ready for our next arrival David who was arriving that evening. Picked him up at airport and we headed to Ibiza Town and had lovely meal at Dalt Villa and lots of roses.
Friday was Tom's birthday so we had his traditional birthday breakfast of smoothies, cookies and muffins from Passion and then had a relaxing day in readiness for the evening. Had a table booked at Pacha for the 4 of us, I'd never eaten at the Pacha restaurant before cos I'm not a big fan of eating before clubbing but the portions weren't that big and I just had a starter as my main which they were fine with. Had a few bottles of rose and the boys all had 2 courses each and the bill came to a very reasonable 45 euros per head which is a bargain for free entry. Went down to the club and ran into lots of familiar faces like Ferd and co. Also went to check DJ times and found that Jacques Le Cont had done another no-show Danny Howells was on top form tho and Tongy was his usual self, nothing particulary amazing.
Had a few Lucozades back at the apartment and were joined by Ferd and then we all headed off to Matinee, not before I'd insisted on painting all the boys' little fingernails pink Had another amazing time there, even better than the previous weeks and the new terrace was properly going off Bumped into loads of others (Nancy, Buckley, SuperD, Russ and I'm sure others but it was all getting a bit hazy by mid-afternoon ) Also had lots of fun making Tom wear hats and pink accessories Finished the night off with a Bora Bora sesh, before crawling back to apartment wondering how on earth we were going to manage to get thru the marathon Space session ahead of us
Easy A few wines and lines for breakfast and then met everyone at Passion (fab to see the lovely Crofty's again, altho you looked so fresh while we were on our last legs ) Headed into Space about 3.30pm, assumed the same raised position we'd taken over the previous week and then I didn't move from that spot for the next 15+ hours Met loads of others like Liam, Robbie, Scoobies and we took over half the raised bit NDSM played first (well Tim did while Jo binted around the DJ booth pretending to DJ ) Highlight was Skin mcing and shouting 'This one's for Kate Moss' and getting the whole of the terrace shouting 'We Love Kate Moss' before crowd surfing Thought Nic Facuilli was rubbish, definitely not early evening terrace music but Paul Woolford was pretty good but we were all just waiting for the main event Mr Danny Tenaglia Well what can I say, the man is a legend and never disappoints Definitely the set of the holiday, I really thought I was going to explode Highlights were him getting the whole club to sing Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive at 6am in the morning and his mix of Eric Clapton - Laya. Morillo was in the house and was insisting that Danny T kept playing one more and he eventually finished at 7am and we left as 4 very happy grinning people
Then reality hit home, we had to check out in 4 hours Somehow packed and went for a much needed veggie breakfast at Passion and a few wines and then headed over to Jamie's hotel as they had the room. Tom did the sensible thing and put his head down for a couple of hours but you know me I never learn, so hit the rose purely for medicinal purposes Then had a final few drinks down at Bora Bora with Ferd and co but then it all went horribly wrong Apparently I was dancing on a chair at Bora Bora, fell off, bumped my head, cut all my lip and ear and landed funny on my hand You really think I'd learn my lesson about dancing on raised objects At the time I was numb to the pain and promptly just fell asleep waiting to go to the airport. In hindsight that probably wasn't the most sensible thing to do and the journey home is a complete blur altho I have slight recollection of seeing Sil at the aiport (looking all fresh from Formentera while I was literally on my last legs )
So that's it over for another year I've been going to Ibiza for 9 years normally twice a year and this holiday was definitely one of the very best ones. Fab company, all the clubbing nights we went to were brilliant, saw some of the island and had some lovely meals.
A definite 10 out of 10
