did anyone see Andrew Graham-Dixon striding about toledo last night on bbc4? if so, don't tell me the result as i recorded it and haven't watched it yet.
seriously though, it's a super programme, and reminds me of my holidays when the wife and i spend days striding from museum to museum, gallery to gallery, and cathedral to cathedral.
aprt from it's enormity, the thing i remember most about toledo cathedral are the red velvet cardinal's hats hanging in various states of decay around the place. the tradition is that when a cardinal dies, he choice of burial place in the cathedral is marked by hanging his hat from the ceiling above it. so there are hats which are hundeds of years old all over the place.
here's one i wrote earlier
