basically i have been thinking about tattoos for a long time but ive never been able to focus on what i want and my ideas change all the time, i want to get something fininshed by next summer so i have to get my thinking cap on... i was wondering if anyone here had any tattoos what sort of process did you follow?did you plan it or was it spontaneous?any regrets?
also if anyone knows any good online galleries that you dont have to subscribe to? did anyone watch miami ink, if yes is it worth watching-ive heard alot of people raving about it recently?

if anyone has any photos of their own tattoos that they would like to share that would be nice too.

I have a horse on my back, it was planned as I had wanted one for ages, had it done when I was 18 so could say I was a bit of a dare devil at that age if you like, I dont regret it all though but lets just say the pain was a different matter - may be worse for me as I am the biggest wimp going but was so proud of myself for going through with it. Have debated another one but not sure if I could go through it again plus not 100% sure what I would have, I did want a tribal sun on my back but then figured I need something I can cover up with clothes and the place I wanted it was at the base of my neck! Not so good when you work in a stuffy office with stuffy people!

My friend had a tattoo when she was 16 done, a small butterfly on her ankle -she hates it. But the friend she got it done with had a dolphin diving into her cleavage    which she can't even cover up unless she dresses very conservatively and it looks horrific.

So be careful with what you choose!

My point exactly, good thing about mine is on the back where I can always cover up, people at work dont even know I have it, so yeah do think carefully. My dad hates anything like tattoos and piercings and would always say to me "what if you have to go to a posh xmas do or something to do with work and you have a big tattoo on show" so is a good thing to think about things like that however boring it may sound

I bloke who used to work for me had '**** OFF* on the inside of his bottom lip. That's only showed when he chose. Any appeal?

I saw a jerry springer where the lady had the following:

Two W's on either side of her arsehole, so it says WOW when she bends over and MOM when she turns the other way

Tattoos can look great.

But one bit of advice i had when i was trawling around trying to find one i liked a few years ago was "no one ever regrets not getting a tattoo", which struck a chord.

So I opted for a prince albert instead

I've got a Lion Rampant on my upper left arm, which I got when I was 18, which was more than likely to be bravado at the time.
They obviously quickly become part of your body, so it doesn't overly bother me that it's there. In hindsight, I would probably have got something else !
Then last year, I got the first line of the chorus of Go Your Own Way, by Fleetwood Mac, in sheet music, done on my inside left forearm. I'd been thinking about it for ages.
It's very unique, so I get a lot of people asking about it, but I'm sure in 10 years, it might not look as striking as it does now !
Tattoo's are done for the moment. If you worry about what they'll look like when you're 50, don't get one done, because they will probably look awful.
Another thing is, I get very bored of people telling me tattoo's don't hurt. By their nature, they are piercing through many layers of skin, which is not painless. It's not agonising, and of course we all have different pain thresholds, but I found the one on my forearm very uncomfortable, a few grit-the-teeth moments !
I've been thinking of getting one of my other forearm, similar to the one the guy out of Green Day has, which is 4 passport photos, done in sequence, in silhouette fashion. I just need to find someone to design it !

i have a tattoo on my back (two small clouds). My brother is tattooist and I got mine from him as a birthday present. It took me years (2) to decide which design I wanted
If you want a tattoo you should feel really identify with the desing if you don't want to regrett further in the time. I also recommend to have it in ap art of your body you don't see everyday to not end bored of it.

Hear hear, mine killed me and I am not ashamed to admit it, wimp or no wimp!

i got a chinese dragon on my right shoulder when i was 18, took nearly two hours because the guy thought i was going to faint, i went really pale from my fingertips to my elbows. I can still imagine the pain as the needle went across my shoulder blade. didn't get my 2nd tattoo for years

 I was the same, should have only took half an hour but took nearly an hour due to all my faffing about and "sorry your gonna have to stop" due to feeling very faint!!! But it was worth it!

I had two chinese symbols on the undersides of my wrists done meaning father and daughter when my dad passed away - was going to get a fancy J done but decided against it - didn't hurt much at all. I'm still debating whether to get a small one done on my foot.
