we called her Naiya, which we thought we had made up, but turns out it means "water nymph" in Greek, although I adapted it from a Hindi name of "Neha". Her middle name is Anne....after my mum.

Have you tried contacting this fella http://www.asianstudies.ed.ac.uk/staff/j-brockington.htm or someone similar for pointers? Academics are usually pretty good for this sort of thing, especially if you express some interest in the origins or similar words.

dont know how top generate sanskrit/arabic - even though there are typefaces that support these characters on the mac, i'd need to know all the seperate characters in order to typeset it.

i think a bottle of mineral water would look much better.
