F%*k it.

Courtesy of Mr Barclaycard and his 14 month interest free offer I have gone and booked 2 lots of flights for next year and I have not even done this years trip yet.

3 nights in July with a mate and 7 nights in August with le famile.

Anyone else as crazy as me? (tongue in cheek)

Were the flights any cheaper for booking so early?

Well,

I used to be able to get some good prices (£100ish) on flights but the past few years have seen them at about £150 return from Manchester.

The July 2012 ones cost me £153pp return no bags/no food/no prebooked seats/no foot massage) which is fine by me.

The August ones, slap bang in the middle of it, have cost me a bit more at £196pp return but I had to add bags due to children and oldies coming with us.

Both flights are with Jet2.

I will book the hotels early, as soon as I can really, as then I will get a good deal.

I can pay off the CC a bit each month till then.

Blimey those fares are high for booking so far ahead 8O .. I guess it changes from year to year but have got ridiculously cheap fares this year waiting until much closer to the time to book in each of May, June, July and (looking at late August/early September, round then too) ... then again you don't necessarily get exactly the flights you want.

Some ridiculously cheap deals on hotels too - less than 40Euros/night for double room at Gran Sol booking the day before or on the day for example and about the same at Sunset Point. Both very good places to stay.

Do you travel alone?

Do you travel alone?

Often do, yes. Guess that may make a difference on getting seats, but it's often very pricey on the airport parking, fuel, hotels and car hire when you're not sharing the costs of those !

Still, I've binned so many Easyjet tickets I've lost count and can't even book a b***dy festival ticket more than a week ahead and manage to make the date  .. so year ahead is WAY off radar for me. Maybe I need a change of career and life plan :);)

Depends who - there are loads of airlines flying out there in Summer. Which one(s) are you looking for / where are you flying from ?

Never really thought of it like that, so unit costs go up travelling alone.

I just like to book as early as poss. Flights are normally between 110 - 160 sovs in anycase so the August ones are a bit much. I need to plan with work etc as its a 1st come 1st served with leave.

I will certainly find the right hotel deal though.

I've seen that Monarch, Jet2 and Easy Jet have some flights out already although EasyJet only have flights listed up to the beggining on June. Ideally looking to fly from Birmingham or East Mids and I don't care who with. Have withdrawals already and have a stag do to book so want to get on top of it asap.

i've booked to come in october, £32 return no extra's
That said my best to date is £5 return in winter!
Car parking and taxi's to and from the airport are the most expensive bit normally but on 5 day trips it can be cheaper to hire a car at the airport than pay for a taxi to and from santa eulalia!
