Hey folks... happy Sunday to ya.

Head a bit foggy over here too...
Luckily my heads quite clear. :D

For the first time since the 80's I've been drinking at my gigs this weekend. Normally just drink plain water, but, my car is in the garage having major surgery, so, took the opportunity. Will sample some more booze at tonight's gig too. :D

heh heh... drinking during gigs... that's a slippery slope, my friend ;)

I'm lucky in that I don't get hangovers in the serious sense of the word, but I am sometimes a bit foggy the next day. It'll pass once I get up and start moving about.

how are your regular gigs going, Les?

Well, my regular Fri/Sat gig I'm getting bored with. Been there for over 4 years (too long), the owners have lost interest and don't even come downstairs except to lockup (they live above). Fri nights are quietish but Saturday nights are still busy. Trouble is I can't play what I want, if I play new quality House music, before the tunes finished, I get a message from the boss to play commercial fodder.

This is a true story; I was playing a long 7 minute new House tune at about 10pm a few weeks ago (from Defected Miami WMC '06 IIRC). Before the tune finished, one of the regular punters received a text message on his mobile phone from the boss upstairs to come over and tell me to play some chart music!!! 8O How freaking sad is that!!! Un-freakin'-believable!!! Was spitting fire for the rest of the night! Very frustrating! But, being self-employed, I suppose it pays the bills.

My other residency on Sundays is going quite well. I can play what I want, Yay!! :D, however, the crowd doesn't always want House. They're a mixed bunch and I have to play more commercial fodder than I would like. But, I can get away with some House including some downright dirty filthy Electro-House! Yee ha!! ....................and they've got a LOUD sound system with body shaking sub-bass! Supposed to be dance music thru the decades, I play 90% new stuff. He he! :spank: But I've filled the place up and made it rock, big style! ;)

..........oh BTW John, I've got some gigs in Ibiza while we're there, I'll let you know when I get more info.:D

........oops, bet you wish you hadn't asked now!

No, don't regret it at all. Though it does sound like you're being crushed under the weight of smalltown DJing. I think it's the same everywhere, really.

Good news on the Ibiza gigs... keep us posted. 8)

i knew a guy in the same boat who ended his gig at the local by smacking the owner in the puss
Ooh! ............some days...........some days. My boss is a woman though.

Her idea of music is Clubland 5,6,7,8 8O

..........and she doesn't know the difference between a chimp playing chart fodder and someone who leads the pack by spending hours every week researching to keep ahead
