any reviews on yesterday (Sasha @ Space) ??

mate, that party was wickid. however i have to say zabiela made sasha look very, very ordinary.
the stuff zabiela can do to songs is amazing. adding beats, breakdowns, everything. Zabiela kept wantingh to play amazing breakbeat tracks, and acid house, but sasha weren´t haven´t, and wanted to continue on playing his space deep house.
It was good to see watch zabiela teach sasha how to use the effects and stuff, sasha looked overwhelmed.
Steve Lawler who played before them was awesome as always, and tom stephen who played before lawler played for too deep for a very hot, and sweaty sunday afternoon.

f*ck aye, was an amazing day/night, ive seen zabiela tons of times and know what he can do, messing with breakdowns etc... but it gets a bit samey, sasha stole the show imo. both impecibble tune selection, loads of tune spots if i can remember, might post them later.

i just gave the KU edit a listen on there september promo mix and the edit sashas been playing is completely different (well the arrangement, the actual track hasnt changed), would love to know whos behind it
lawler smacked it on the terrace but i really couldn't stay out there long with the sun still out and thousands of people trying to cram onto the limited space on the terrace i felt like i was gonna get crushed to death, so i escaped into the airconditioned main room. was really happy to hear some breaks being played early on in the main room, while the terrace was well busy, can't remember who was playing though!
sashsa and zabiela smacked it but the club was too busy to dance properly downstais so i had to settle with wiggling in the corner, which was kinda crap.
also spent a long time sitting in what my friend calls a "physical representation of what i k-hole would like like if it looked like anything" - he was referring to the giant yellow cylinder in the chillout bar upstairs. i think it looks like a giant piece of round cheese.

Well James Z is Sasha's prodigy innit? I am sure Sasha stands in awe, and wouldn't even try the fx which are James' 2nd nature by now. Different generation. Would have loved to see them in action.
They did a mix together on Annie Nightingales BBC R1 show last year - that was interesting! Sasha manageed to bury 'Xpander' under an onslaught of breaks.
I must also say Sasha's recently released album Involver is a beautiful collection of music. My fav track is his edit of Simon Posford's "Dorset Perception" eish that's really something else.
And I guess all's forgiven for Sasha not pitching at Space's opening last year?
That terrace upstairs is great - and that thingy you sit in. Could have be something out of the set of Space Odyssey 2001!

Agree Sasha was amazing last week in Ibiza! Saw him at Pacha and Space and he played amazing sets, wrecking both venues, defo up there in my all time best Sasha gigs and ive been going to see him since 1995!
His terrace set even had my us house friends loving him and being amazed by him! He played such a musical and tuneful set here is what i spotted: (he was b2b with jz)
Daft Punk - Da Funk (1st tune played by jz)
Uknown 3rd tune or abouts (this tune had a guitar/bell riff that was quite hypnotic and groovy, that builds with nice key changes, anyone know what this is? he played this at pacha too)
Miss Kitten Distortion (subsky remix)
Julian Delfaud, Alex Gopher, & Ettienne De Crecy - Fast Track (which mix was this?)
Stone Roses - Fools Gold (remix uknown)
A Studio -Sos (this blew the terrace up)
Matrix and Danny J -Vertigo (goltrix remix)
Blur (think it was tim deluxe mix)

yeh i know the tune you are talking about, no idea on the name though, just sounds like bells chiming and every 16 beats or so the bells changed key, quality track

Zabiela is talented no doubt about it, but he overdoes the sampling and tricks to the point that it really does become annoying at times.
Sasha played a great set at Pacha, but i wasn't that thrilled by him at Space. I agree thought that Sasha and breaks don't mix. He doesn't do the breaks thing well at all.

Lawler was awesome on terrace as always. Sasha & Zabiela started well but then killed it too much for an hour or so before finishing off well. Zabiela always looks like an excited school kid constantly fiddling with bits of technology while Sasha just looks so relaxed
Saw about an hour of Sasha inside but he was playing really minimal, no melodies or even good basslines. Everyone seems to play minimal inside.
