Where to start?!! Could be a long one, sorry if it rambles a little.

I'm going to use names of the Royal Family and the Spice Girls to protect the innocent in case they are embarrassed at their conduct. Take it as read that a. I danced my ass off in every club and b. every club was mobbed with gorgeous girls (I was in heaven!!).

I stayed at the San Remo Hotel in San An Bay. It was fine, the little I saw of it!

Sept 1 - Arrived 3am, slept until 9 and then went to meet fellow spotlighter, Mel B, who had txtd to say did I want to join her on Formentera for the day. We caught the big catamaran thing, 25 mins over, hired bikes and went to a beach on the spit of land north of the port, the name escapes me. We had a very relaxing day getting to know each other a little and met another spotlighter who was great fun and gave very good substance advice. Loved swimming in the sea and the contrast between the beaches on the east and west of the spit, only about 200m wide and so different.

We got back to San An 9pm, quick brush up and then into the West End, which was not as bad as I imagined, to buy tickets for Cream. On the disco bus to amnesia I chatted to 2 gorgeous italian girls, half my age and going to another club thankfully! we arrived at 1am, Mel B lost her camera to a doorman (I smuggled mine in) and he had a go at us which was a nice start to my first Ibiza club!! Inside it was banging, PVD was the main act but the whole evening was fab, hard house/techno (excuse my knowledge on music genres, I'm not up to speed on them) and a brilliant atmosphere exactly as I'd imagined it would be, with a sea of hands and 95% of the crowd dancing, quite different to UK clubs. I went onto the terrace to see Annie Mac but couldn't get into the kinda funky house as I was attuned to the hard stuff in the other room. Nicely wired on a couple of sweeties and had the best time, meeting other spotlighters Ann and Charles (you know who you are!) from London and their large crew. Obviously I loved the ice cannon esp as it was soooo hot. We left at 5.30am as Mel B was tired and in bed for 7am.

Sept 2 Got up 8am for breakfast (I was on half board), staggered around in a zombie state and went straight back to bed until 3pm. Woke up feeling like i had mild flu (flick to the end of this report for the grim truth of my illness!!) then met spotlighter Philip and spent 3 hours on the beach with his crew enjoying the beautiful weather. Met Mel B at Kanya for sunset, not the best place as it was like a graveyard compared to the main strip, had a lovely caesar salad and then more drinks in the West End. Mel B didn't want to go out but the moment I heard some dance music I was keen and bought a ticket for Dusted@Eden from a great rep called Ricky who was very helpful throught the holiday for club advice. Had a nice cocktail at Pussycats too.

Eden was quietish but had great house music, danced all night, escaped at 7am for a twix and apple juice and then returned for the afterparty in the back room with Tim Sheridan (Space resident). He was amazing esp after my 3rd sweetie of the night, just loved his set and dragged myself away to bed after 10am. Breakfast and bed!

Sept 3rd - Up at 4pm, mild headache and flu, went on the beach until 8pm. I met Mel B at 10.30pm had drinks and food somewhere in the west end and then went to Bar M to meet Ann and Charles, intending to do Amnesia that night. I liked Bar M alot, very nice place but I abandoned waiting for the guys at 1.30am and was early to bed at 2. Turned out that A&C had txtd me with a change of plan but I got it the next day(!). Didn't miss much tho as it was the night of the complete island powercut and they said Amn was crap anyway, Ibiza ppl night I think?

Sun Sept 4th - Woke at 10am feeling pretty poorly, txtd Philip and joined him and his crew on the bus to WLS@Space (of course!!). We arrived 3pm and the outside terrace was jumping, great funky house and fab vibe. One of Phil's crew was 21 and said he felt very young, I thought it suited me nicely! Had a sweetie and left at 6.30pm for sangia and a veggie pizza and arrived back for James Zabiela at 8pm, my whole reason for going that day. James jumped out of a car next to me as we Q'd which was cool and then played a fab set 8-9 in the inside terrace. Everyone loved him inspite of most not knowing who he was and he was followed by 3 hours of Groove Armada who were also fantastic, the crowd going ballistic by now. I was straight throughout and loved it. Met Ann and Charles on the terrace at 12am but after a chat, C left and over the next 2 hours so did Phil and his crew. I had a sweetie at 1am, James came on in the disco for 2 hours at 2am and Ann went upstairs to do K. I danced with a group of Aussies and educated them on who James was - they loved his set!! By 4.30 I was wrecked and couldn't find Ann so left and got much needed food and drink outside. Ann txtd me at 5.30 wondering where i was and saying i was missing Tim Sheridan in the upstairs red room - DAMN - didn't know he was on! We got a taxi at 6am.

Mon 5th Sept - I got up for breakfast and was joined at my table by 2 young guys, 20 y/o Andrew and Edward (running out of names here!). Andrew was clueless re clubbing but dead keen, Edward was less so. I was like a zombie of course and explained that I was joining Ann and Charles for DC10 at midday - they were impressed at my madness!

Met A&C at 1pm, 2nd breakfast and feeling quite ill by now but we took a taxi to DC10, arriving 3pm. It was quietish but very loud(!) musically and I felt kinda intimidated by the predominantly v fashionable Spanish crowd, esp in my frazzled state. A sweetie sorted that out and we joined in wholeheartedly until going for food in PDB until 8pm. When we returned it had become a riot, (if you've been you'll know what I mean!), v v v busy. We stayed on the terrace until 11pm having the most intense clubbing experience and met a very nice Dutch couple who were great fun, insisting on anyone in the vicinity removing their sunglasses - this went down well with the fashionista of course! Also witnessed the only mild bust up between clubbers of the whole holiday but security dealt with it very professionally. Loved DC10 but I went outside at 11pm to chill, the guys stayed in until the end at 12.15am and we got a mad Polish guy to drive us home in his clio (quite scary!). I was streaming with the cold by this point and glad to get to bed at 1am.

Tues sept 6th - Up at 4pm, met Charles on the beach outside and had a great chat with him, made a real connection and found him to be a stand up guy. Ann arrived later and having collected Andrew and Edward (For their first club night) we then reconvened at Bar M and Itica with Mel B at 11.30pm. A&C's friend Mel C arrived fresh off the plane at 1am and we went to Slinky@Eden. Charles loved the trance music, I thought it was good but not quite my scene. It became a foam party but we avoided that. Had 2 or 3 sweeties each and a great time then joined the afterparty in the back room until 8.15am. Charles then sadly left for the airport.

Wed Sept 7th - I was not well so slept all through the day's thunderstorms waking at 5pm feeling alot better. Met Andrew and Edward and hooked up with Ann, Mel C and their gorgeous mate Elizabeth at Mambo where we watched a fabulous lightening display all around us. It looked amazing esp over the sea, then me, Eliz, Ann and Mel C caught the disco bus to Sub@Pasha. No search at all on the way in and we were all very impressed with the place, it felt so posh! Spent alot of time on the outside terrace with Eliz who I rather fancied. Played the "Who'd you fk" game between us and she was most impressed when a girl we'd both said we'd do came up and started chatting. I escorted her to the ladies where I met another of her friends and had a most enjoyable discussion about golden showers (can i say this?!!). I returned to the girls and we danced our asses off to Seb Fontaine and Erick Morillo, though I was less impressed with his set - the breaks were so long you thought he'd finished each time and gone home. Bumped into the dutch couple from DC10 which was a lovely surprise and got vaguely knocked back by Eliz which wasn't! We stayed to the end at 7.30am and got a taxi back to Mel C and Eliz's hotel in San An.

Thurs Sept 8th - we had a breakfast of special K and I was dispatched on various whoozy shopping trips while the girls flashed blokes on nearby balconies! One of my missions involved buying a sex toy for Eliz from a local food supermarket which they all then had a fight over on the balcony, much to the delight of the assembled blokes on other balconies across!

We helped Ann pack as she was leaving later and Mel C and Eliz held her remaining and varied stash for later use between us. We drank a little, decided sleep was for wimps and relaxed on the beach by Coastline, using a swim in the sea as a refreshing bath. I had a great chat with Mel C and continued trying to hook Eliz then returned to my hotel for a shower and clothes change at 6.30pm. Met Andrew and Edward and appraised them of my recent activities. Andrew was very keen to do a last club night but had very little cash left so I sorted it that we'd meet the girls at Sun Sea Bar for food and catch the free bus to Viva@Space which apparently also got us in for free. It was Mel B and Ann's last evening and following a comedy of errors we ended up not all eating together, but scattered throughout San An! I helped Ann with her cases to the taxi rank as she was pretty wound up by now then joined the others at SunSea Bar, sustaining injuries from running across the adjacent wasteground in the dark in order to catch the free bus at 11pm! I was not happy and had a sweetie to help. We got the bus at 11pm and indeed got into Space for nothing, result! Andrew lost the sweetie I gave him to the doorman unfortunately so I gave him a couple more feeling a very paternal instinct towards him and wanting him to have a great night.

Which we did, the inside terrace was the only bit open and it was packed and jumping! X-Press 2 (3 dj's, 6 decks) worked quite well, abit unco-ordinated maybe and from a very dark and hard beginning, the tunes lightened slightly until Steve Lawler came on at 4am and did a blinding techno set (I think!). We were all wired to the moon so when Eliz wandered off with some guy that hit on her I had a down moment. Of course she could do as she pleased but my mind said otherwise to me!!

We left about 6am and Andrew and I returned to the San Remo.

Fri 9th Sept - Bed at 7.30 am, up at 4.30pm and felt ill and pissed off, too many sweeties and nights out no doubt! I watched TV for the first time, catching up on the news and had a couple of texts from Mel C asking was I joining them. I didn't feel like facing Eliz so declined and they went clubbing with her new guy and his mates. I felt 100% happier when I received an unexpected text from a girl I liked at home saying she was now single and we should meet when I returned - cheered me up no end!!
Sleep by midnight.

Sat Sept 10th - Joined Andrew and Edward on the beach for a while as they were leaving PM and then slept until 4pm and waited with them for their bus. They left 5pm and I felt like crap, all of my new friends had now left and I was alone again. :( I knew that a girl named Emma who I had vaguely met in my fave club at home was flying in that day and going to Hed Kandi@El Div with her boyfriend so I made the effort and arrived there at 1am, hoping to bump into them. Great surprise when I met the Dutch couple again and various of their clubbing mates and thought that El Div was just beautiful esp the outside terrace and we thoroughly enjoyed some good old fashioned uplifting house music (the hols seemed to have been mostly techno until then). Plus the girls were fantastic! Talking of which, I glanced around at 2.30am and spotted Emma sans boyfriend!! She was with (think of a name!! um, Diana?!!) and we had a perfect night dancing and chatting and taking sweeties (of course!). I had fancied Emma big time from the moment I met her at home so was very pleased to get to know her so much better and we flirted gently and most enjoyably.

Sun Sept 11th - The girls invited me back to their hotel and Diana went to bed as she was unwell. Emma and I sat on her balcony and analysed our various previous relationships, getting on brilliantly. We went for lunch at Rita's Cantini(?) on the San An harbour-front at 3pm and I knew my heart was getting into trouble! Still having not slept since Saturday afternoon, I returned to my hotel, showered and changed and returned to join Emma at her pool at 5pm. We chatted and enjoyed each others company then woke Diana at 9pm or so and went to a tapas bar that Emma recommended - it was closed! So we had a very nice dinner at an Italian place and apparently our waiter fancied the girls because he offered and joined us for 2 free rounds of tequila shots! We wandered off about 1am quite tipsy to Villa Mercedes and lounged around on their curtained beds drinking and having a great time, the girls both being perfect company. We retired to their room about 4am and Emma kindly gave me her bed and slept on a lilo as I was feeling quite unwell again with the flu (or not as it turned out) that had plagued me throughout the holiday.

Mon Sept 12th - we slept until 12.30pm and then had a great lunch in the sunshine at the Orange Corner near Bar M, wolfing 2 milkshakes in a vague attempt at healthy living! I returned to my hotel for 3 hours sleep and then was joined by the girls at Kukanaris or something in San An Bay. Sunset was beautiful and we returned to the girls' hotel where they changed and we left for Ibiza town, arriving about 11pm. Emma took us to a fantastic ice cream store she knew of - it was closed too! - and we found a lovely tapas cafe and wolfed large amounts of great food before wandering around the town and having a cocktail at Teatros bar. Clearly I was loving spending all this time with such fab girls esp. Emma who I found so very attractive. We went sightseeing around Ibiza Castle around 2.30am and then returned to San An about 3.30am after a great evening.

Tues Sept 13th - I slept until 1.30pm and as agreed with the girls, checked out of my hotel! We were having such a fun time together it seemed pointless being away from them. I joined them at their Hotel at 3pm and we caught the bus to Bora Bora, my first visit this holiday! We decided it was way too late in the day to arrive there so collectly put our watches back 6 hours, so arriving late morning! We had a sweetie and a drink and sunbathed until the sun went down at 2.30pm, rather early we felt and summised it may be an eclipse. Incidentaly a crowd gathered late afternoon to applaud a couple seemingly shagging in the surf, the girl looking less than happy when they walked back up the beach but the boy apparently still very excited!

We joined the merry throng in Bora Bora bar and had a meal. I had a ticket for Carl Cox Closing@Space already but the girls had to be in by midnight (real time) to get in cheaply. Our watches confused the situation and so it was that I joined the guestlist Q about 11.45pm and the girls became lost in the huge main Q. I got in at 12.05 am thinking the girls would be ages and have to pay full fare but oh joy, they were in already!! Apparently a security guard opened a gate and let in just 10 people from the hundreds queueing at just before midnight, and my babes were in the lucky 10! We met another very nice couple from home and settled down in the chillout tube. Emma and I got closer and closer and we had a great night in spite of the music being rather poor we all agreed. Took sweeties, chilled, chatted to everyone, loved it all.

Wed Sept 15th - My last day! We were ejected at 6am but had free passes for In Bed losing@Space at 8am so retired to Bora beach and cuddled up and watched a beautiful sunrise, then sunbathed until 11am, met the couple from last night, took some stuff and feeling revitalised returned to Space, having had no sleep obviously! We enjoyed the house sounds with live vocals until 3pm and after a trashed discussion between Emma and me on just what we were doing, we all realised how filthy and shattered we were and caught a bus back to San An and the hotel. I had quite alot of cash in Euros left so suggested I take the girls out for a meal later before catching my airport bus at 11.30pm. Diana retired to bed 5pm as did Emma and me and having abandoned all thoughts of food, we spent the next 6 hours discussing just what was going on between us and trying to decide if it was real or just Ibiza madness. The conclusion we came to being that it was real - and really pretty fantastic!

I dragged myself away at 11.15pm just in time to get back to my hotel and catch my bus. I now realised just how ill I was and slept through my boarding call, being chased along by a cleaner and catching my plane thankfully!

I landed at 4.00am and after driving for 4 hours finally returned home and got to bed at 9am - approximately 45 hours without sleep!

So as you will have gathered I had just the best time in Ibiza, it far exceeded my expectations on every level! Thanks for reading this and sorry it was so long!

P.S. I felt so unwell since returning that I went to the doctor yesterday and was diagnosed with Legionaires Disease!! He thinks I must have caught it via the aircon on the plane over and it explains why I was sick to a lesser or greater degree the whole holiday, but masked it with excitement, dancing and substance abuse. Oh and I lost half a stone in the 2 weeks! I'm now on antibiotics and sick leave - I joked I'd need a holiday to recover from Ibiza and so it seems I do! Emma returns this weekend so we'll see how that develops but I have high hopes and great faith.

I haven't proof read this yet so sorry for any spelling errors of bits that make little sense.

Excellent account of your trip! 2 questions though:

1) were you partying with the Spice Girls? Mel B and Mel C are cool, I wouldn't have minded Baby Spice. ;)

2) How does it feel after 45 hours of no sleep? I don't know how you could socialize those last hours in Ibiza.

Sorry to hear you got Legionnaire's Disease! Hopefully you didn't infect all of Ibiza clubland. :( I'm surprised I didn't get sick on my holiday with all the connecting flights I had to make - Frankfurt ;) , Dusseldorf, Madrid, Barcelona and London (I used my dad's frequent flyer miles).

I was partying with the Spice Girls and the Royal Family. You'll note I chose Baby Spice Emma for my squeeze's pseudynym, this was not by chance, both are as cute as hell! :D

Strangly, not having sleep didn't really bother me. I had two 36 hour benders and the final 45 during my hols and ok, substance abuse aided the situation at times but I found that lively company and having a great laugh were more than enough to keep me up and about. My last day with Emma could have carried on for a week, I still wouldn't have slept!

Gotta say, I'm thankful I was so fit before going out there cos dancing 6-8 hours each night was killing ppl around me but I wasn't too bad. My advice, run 80-100 miles a month in the 4 months before going to Ibiza!!

You're so right about exercise! I worked out diligently four days a week for a year (pilates, weight training, cardio, swimming) - the gym was my second home. It helped with all the hiking I had to do to get to Sa Trinxa, and I metabolized the good food and alcohol a lot quicker!

i can never fathom out how, after consuming drink and drugs, going without sleep, and being over exposed to the awful noise that is our discos, that our reviewers are able to recount their exploits with military precision.
eg
06.00 hours arose for early breakfast of cereals and freshly squeezed orange juice.
06.12 went for walk, had coffee and bought a paper.
06.47 put towel on lounger.......
and so it goes on

 Because i kept a diary specifically for this purpose which I wrote up each day when I woke up. Plus , much as I take drugs I still know what I'm doing and where I am and I don't drink alcohol when dropping. They may make me very cheerful and give me energy but I'm not one for taking so many I lose the evening (unlike a guy we met who munched 5 and became a madman! ). I want to enjoy the experience, not say "I lost it completely last night, any pictures?!"

And I wear a watch which I agree is a rare thing in clubland! The times are approximate but pretty close.

Sensible substance abuse comes with age...

aw loved your review it sounds like you had the time of your life :D

But i've got to agree with stephen. I can remember which clubs we went to and which nights but not much else! Well not in detail anyway!

I did 9 clubs in 7 days including two trips to space. No idea what time, where, who i spoke to or what clothes i wore.

We are all ill with weight loss, chest infections and bad stomachs too! I though it was just too many "sweets" but maybe a trip to the docs is called for??

I'll post some pics in a new topic if anyone is bored at work.

Great story of your trip mate. Im just a bit too rough to go into any detail yet. Maybe in a few days...

Hope you've recovered well. The Barbara Tucker PA at in bed was awesome! One of the only things i remember.

Dude, you were at "in bed" too? Bugger, cos I was meant to hook up with you guys at some point I seem to remember! Should have got your mobile number but oh well.

I hate to think how many people I may have infected whilst over there. Forget Typhoid Annie, meet Legionaires Mike!!

No worries mate i was in no fit state anyway. Met mambobird, poshclubber, solid funk & one or two others. Not by arrangement, more just bumping into them!

Great review, especially for a first timer!

I'm glad to hear i'm not the only one canning it in Ibiza and losing many un-needed sleeping hours :p

I also keep a diary in Ibiza where i fill in my adventures on daily basis (otherwise i wouldn't recall almost a damn thing at the end of the day) :D

Keep the vibe alive trumplesneaker and good luck with Emma! :)

Thanks fusion. I've had emails from "Emma" every day and apart from confirming we're going to give it a go, she's at Space, Bora Bora, Pasha, La Troya closing etc etc.

Damn, I wish I was out there still

I think I'll plan to go out for the closing parties next year (and maybe an earlier visit too) as they coincide with my (whisper it) 40th birthday.

Gotta say, when I read A1 reviews like Discodude's (we are not worthy, this guy is a demi-god ;) ) I realise I'm a lightweight on the substance abuse front, I must try harder. (Sorry for mentioning d**gs again Dr Mick  )

Nice review trumpy! The dutch couple you met in DC10 where with me and my pals! Nick and Inika if you did'nt catch thier names, he's english actually but she's as dutch as a windmill! There both 45 and only started taking chemicals about 2 years ago now look at them! Great Stuff!!!! :D :D :D

Hey Duke :D

Yeah they are the guys I met and I knew Nick was english but it would have confused my review to explain each time!!

Inika made me remember her name as being like Gary Liniker! I struggled until then. Nick said he started drugs at 36, I remember because it's the same age I started at. I was well impressed at their energy levels, Inika was just like a whirlwind of fun everytime I met her and Nick was always coming up!!

Perhaps we met too? What do you think? Were you with them at DC, Pasha and Hed Kandi? I remember them introducing me to various people at DC, Jan and Mattaus being 2 names that stuck cos they looked after my bag for me. Wasn't DC incredible?!

We may have done! I was with them at DC10 and Pacha but not at Hed kandi! I was in the same mode as yourself so the nights are somewhat a bit of a blur! I was wearing a white head band and everyone was asking me if i'd hurt myself! There was six of us in DC10 and another couple came over for the Pacha evening! We probably did cross paths and yes DC is something else! Glad you had a good time, will you be gonig back?? 8)

I don't remember a white headband but as you say, some details escaped me. Actually saying that, I have a vague recollection but hey, long gone now!

Will I be going back? What do you think?!! Does anyone visit Ibiza just the once? I'll know what to expect in DC10 next time, wear body armour and toecap boots!

I'm already thinking about going back for the closing parties next year cos it'll coincide with my 40th birthday. Fancy an early season visit too, have to see what happens.

I agree with Stephen, I tried to write a long review but couldnt recount enough of what I did

Had a 80 hour no sleep marathon at one point, and cannot remember enough to write about it

Not surprised after 80 hours mate - makes me look like a lightweight!!

Are we gonna hook up in Aberdeen soon? Pm me and we'll sort something. Think Dave Clark's doing Snafu on the 21st.

It really was the biggest session I've ever been on :p

Was at Jacques Le Cont on Fri night in Snafu, great night. We'll definitely hook up soon mate. Give me a shout when your next going out, I'll be there :p
