21.12.2012 11h11 - a slightly different solstice this year...one that marks the end of the Maya long count calendar.
Fear mongering religious types might tell you this equates with the end of the world but the ancients had a different view (quite what the concept of 'end' means when time is cyclical I'm not quite sure).
Much more meaningful than bloody Xmas (in full grinch mode here - madcap consumption vs ritual - had a t!ts full already
