It's my wedding anniversary this weekend (6 years at 28 years old!!!!) and I'm planning a weekend of fun and frolics, which will involve a lurvely romantic picnic. However, I don't want to do the usual old stuff. So, if you could have ANY (reasonable!!) sandwich or picnic snack delivered to your desk right now, what would it be?:?:

Oooh I like questions like this...I'm a bir redundant at the mo because both my macs have died and they've got an engineer on the case.

Picnics...Hmmm...Sushi is always a winner - also love those smoked salmon roll thingys with cream cheese in the middle (roulades?), stuffed vine leaves, artichoke and beetroot salad, mackrel fillets, cheese/crackers and wine. 8)

i did a tea and sandwiches party a few months back. alongside more traditional ham and mustard/cheese ploughmans/beef and horseradish, some of the ones i made were:

chicken and apricot with caesar dressing on rye bread
red/moroccan style humous with cheddar in pitta pockets
brie and grape

my favourite tho are waldorf salad sandwiches on thin white bread, strong white cheese (cheddar will do), chopped celery, grated waldorfs, lemon juice, mayo, and chopped apple. yyuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!:D

Sounds delicious... but being really ignorant - what are "waldorfs"??!!

haha:lol:  .............waldorf is the name of the hotel where the salad was invented (the waldorf astoria in NYC). in the salad you actually use walnuts, but call 'em waldorfs if they are being used in a waldorf salad.;)

Ok, now I feel REALLY stupid!   May just have to go and console myself with food! Well, at least I made you laugh!:)

don't feel stupid, i think i'm probably the only person in the world who actually calls them waldorfs!8O

i was laughing at my silly ways, not you.;)

@ Grego: I am a correct german housewife :p and I can not accept your anwer. The basis for Waldorf salad is carrots and celery !

i know but i didn't want carrots in my "waldorf sandwiches" so i just left them out and used the ingredients as i posted above.:p ;)

as i said above...
