Anyone catch that D.C. United v. Chelsea match last night?

I had to get up at 4am to watch it but what a great game! My hometown soccer team (the current and 4-time US champs) against my favorite football club. Soccer fans across the States tuned in to see the US and UK champs go at it, and everyone thought Chelsea would walk all over United (whose annual payroll wouldnt be enough to buy one Chelsea squad player!)

BUT, Washington had other plans and the team went ahead 1-0 after 30 minutes!! Damien Duff equalized 4 minutes later, though, and Hernan Crespo shot home the winner in the 2nd half so final score DC 1, Chels 2.

I had hoped DC could pull out the draw and they looked close towards the end but it was not to be. Still, very proud of my boys back home. It was a true contest when no one thought it should be.

For Chelsea, everyone played 45 minutes (except Tiago and Gudjohnsson, who went 60/30).

SWP played the first 45 minutes. Delivered an amazing cross which Duff met with his foot in mid-air for the volley that delivered Chelsea's first goal.

We've got 4 competitions and no intention of playing the youth & reserves in the cups (like MU, Arse) or in the league (like Liverpool) so as to concentrate on one competition over another. Everyone, SWP included, will have plenty of time on the field.
